Drunk baking... maybe. Help?

I need help before I have a drunk+PMS fit.  I just got home from visiting with some in-town-for-a-funeral cousins, and their grieving process included a lot of fajitas, Dos Equis, and margaritas.

Anyway, I am home now and I want to bake something chocolatey.  I have all the ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies, but I don't want cookies. Can I make brownies or something out of that?

I swear I won't catch my house on fire.  Plus there are two other people here to extinguish it if i do.

I was really hoping for some brownies and it's probably safer to try to cook them than to drive to the store.

  • All the regular stuff you would bake with.  Eggs, oil, butter, sugar, brown sugar, flour, vanilla, baking powder and baking soda.  Plus chocolate chips.  Just none of that chocolate powder in a can stuff or those chocolate baking squares, but I'm hoping those are not that important?

  • try a grocery store run if you don't have all the items reqired for brownies. That way you could possibly buy some from the bakery. Either that or you could get all the items needed, forget about the items you just bought and get some more alcohol in the process. Sounds like a win-win situation to me as long as you can find a DD or hoof it.

  • Hmm well since your list didn't include "brownie mix" I can't help you, I'm not much of a baker.  But I'm thinking you probably need like cocoa or something.  Just make cookies, if you are drunk it shouldn't matter, right?

You could make the regular cookie recipe like brownies (in a 9x9 pan), melt the chocolate chips, and swirl them through the batter before baking. Then you'll have ribbons of chocolate in a brownie like square. I dunno, sounds good in my head.

No problem. I like the giant cookie option as well. Kinda makes me feel like a kid inside, which makes me all nice and giggly when you're drunk like I am.

  • UPDATE:  I stared at both ideas you guys posted and was conflicted to the core, but I ended up making Vegas's brownies.  I just put them in the oven and poured another glass of wine :)

  • Oh yeah- Um, i don't have a 13x9 so I put it in a 9x9.  Is that longer or shorter cooking time?  Or the same?

(I don't bake much sober, either).

Kate, I'd set the timer for the original time and just check it with a toothpick at that point. It might take a bit longer but you don't want to risk burnt brownies (which I would totally still eat). As the only sober one here, I think you should try it my way. :p
