Hotel Mazarin or Royal Sonesta?

Hi Nola Knotties,

I'm torn between venues, and not too sure about the staff at each... Opinions? Suggestions?

Re: Hotel Mazarin or Royal Sonesta?

  • Where will you have the ceremony at the Royal Sonesta?  When I looked at the space, I thought you could only get married indoors, but maybe someone else was getting married in the courtyard on the day I was looking for.

The Hotel Mazarin has a lovely courtyard.
  • In the courtyard, but I worry about 100 guests out there.
  • Hotel Mazarin would be my choice if I wanted just mainly courtyard. We are probably going with Royal Sonesta. The courtyard is very small for the and I'm not sure where we'll put our 100 guests either, but she assured me it would work. I'm still worried about the room size for the reception too.

I did have a very hard time getting a contract from R.S.
  • I'm having a hard time getting a contract from them too. Wyeth has been drawing one up now for a week. So you think the courtyard is larger at the Mazarin? Trying to compare contracts is like a giant shell game, where are they hiding the charges.... LOL

I know! I feel like there is not enough detail in it! It took about 3 weeks for the contract and I've taken just as long to sign it(still haven't)! Good thing is she told me our wedding cake would count under the F & B min if we use their pastry chef.

There are a lot of plants at Royal Sonesta in the courtyard, so I feel like it may block some of our guests view. I'm to the point where I don't care. If you look at Studio Tran I know they have pictures from a courtyard wedding there.
  • hahahha I'm in the same boat.....
Did you get cake costs from her? How much is the wedding cake gonna be from them? That's what I'm trying to figure out. We are expecting 100 guests.
  • I got married at Hotel Mazarin and had a wonderful experience.  Search my vendor reviews.  I did however stay at the Sonesta and got read there in their bourbon street suite.  I love their suites and wanted to be on bourbon street with my wedding party.  HTH!

I just booked a reception at the Royal Sonesta.  I considered the Hotel Mazarin, but if you are planning the reception for next yesar you should note that the Hotel Mazarin no longer will allow you to use the courtyard as part of the venue space for your reception.  They only permit the courtyard to be used for ceremonies becuase of all the complaints from hotel guests for the noise.

Have either of you considered the Pharacy Museum as a ceremony site then go over to the Mazarin or Sonesta for a reception?  Before I was going to do a Catholic Wedding I was considering the pharmacy museum for a ceremony, they have a beautiful 19th century courtyard.
