Hello! I am new to TheKnot and I wanted to share my proposal story! I hope no one minds
I was born in Israel and moved to the states when I was 3. This past month, I went there with my boyfriend of 3 years, his brother, and his brother's girlfriend. We were having an amazing trip, going all over Israel in our rented car over a 2 week period. My cousin, who I admire so much, took really good care of us in making sure that we had everything we needed. Craig, my fiance, told me that he really wanted to go see the place that I was born, so my cousin prepared a really cool day for us in that area. We went on an off-roading jeep trip for a few hours, and then we hiked through a river for 2 hours...which was the best time of the trip so far. It was so much fun! I knew that the plans were to go to the top of a mountain called Mount Tabor, where we could overlook a restaurant my parents owned as well as see the house I lived in. I thought it was a pretty cool idea, so of course I went for it! After the 2 hour water hike, we piled into his jeep (5 adults and 2 children) and headed for Mount Tabor. On the way up (sun was starting to set, but it was still light out), I happened to say "this is the most amazing view of the trip so far" (which you could imagine made him even more excited about his plan!) It really was breathtaking. When we got to the very top, I was so eager to go see the view. I jumped out of the car with my cousin's daughter and Craig's brother's girlfriend, and we walked ahead (guys tend to take their time). His brother had the video camera, and I heard him making remarks on it (nothing important...just silly things). At that point, I was taking pictures and truly being in awe of the view. Craig then asked me to come give him a hug. We stood for a while, hugging and looking over at the amazing view. Then he says "being up here is a good time to do this" and he gets down on one knee, and well..you get it from there! It was beyond perfect. Overlooking the area that I was born makes it special to me and to my entire family...and also having my cousin and his kids there was incredible! It was more than I ever dreamed of in a proposal. And as it turns out, pretty much EVERYONE knew and they were all in on it! His brother and my cousin were responsible for the ring from the moment we arrived to Israel. They were constantly doing little things (that I now look back and realize) to exchange it among the two of them when necessary. It is all just so funny to me and so so so perfect.
