Need a good/inexpensive seamstress

They gave me numbers for two women at the bridal shop where I bought my dress (Helene's)  they told me both were great but one had more resaonable prices.  I am having a very hard time reaching her, so I am now going to try getting in touch with other people.  My wedding is in exactly three months and all I need is a hem and bustle.  Any sugguestions would be much appreciated!  Thanks :)

    I just called Rose from Sewing Creations by Rose to make my first fitting appointment for the end of July. She was recommended to me by most of the ladies on this board. I can't give you anything more to go off of yet as I haven't met with her, but it seems as if everyone loves her work. Not sure about prices though.

    i too bought my dress from Helene's and was given Rose's name. I have set up an apmt for mid july and am also bringing my rehearsal dinner dress for her to do some work on. she seems super sweet and gets great reviews on here so i'm glad she is available and able to help me out - was she one of the names you got? who was the other one?

    Yes, they gave me Rose's name as well.  She just told me that Rose was more expensive.  The other woman's name is Janina.  Like I said I am having a very hard time reaching her.  A few times I called and it was busy for hours, then I left her a message earlier today.  If I don't hear back from her by tomorrow night then I will be calling up Rose.

    I received a few quotes before going with Rose. She was by far one of the most reasonably priced and most experienced - my gown required a lot of alteration work. Rose was amazing and she was very responsive. I did get a quote for a little less but because of her reputation and her professionalism, I went with her. She is known for her clad iron bustles that are broke proof.

    My seamstress was out of CT, but that was something I REALLY wish I had splurged on.  It was $100 cheaper than another quote I got - and I wish I had paid triple just so my dress would have fit well.  The hem was too long, the bustle didn't stay and people, including myself - walking (make that tripping) up the steps at the ceremony, stepping on my dress the whole first dance and hissing at my dad to take smaller steps - stepped on it the whole time.  It sucked having to literally move people off my dress all night and have safety pins give-way and poke me in the butt.  Luckily it had straps so it didn't fall down, but the seamstress can't get credit for that one.  Not having it done somewhere with a good reputation was one of my few regrets from the wedding.  So take it from me, go with the good reputation!

    I'm not sure what the going rate is, But my seamstress did a lot to my dress. She also gave me a veil that she had made. I bought my dress really cheap and didn't think it would ever look good on me because it was so big. It is gorgeous and I got it back today and it fits beautifully!!! Her name is Antoinetta and she does it out of her home in W.W. I saw a beautiful $4500 gown she is altering now. Let me know if you want her #. I paid $200 for my alterations, but like I said, needed alot taken in.

    I'm going to Gen at Alterations Express in Fall River.  She altered my bridesmaid dress for a friend's wedding and did an amazing job. She quoted me $200 for a hem, bustle, taking in the top, and putting a corset in place of the zipper.

    I calles Rose today... oh my goodness was she super friendly over the phone!  I was so pleased with her attitude and professionalism that I am going to my appointment in less than two weeks!!!  So glad I gave her a call, and she quoted me with a reasonable price!!
