There are lots of choices out there.  We ended up going with Hy-Vee for our cake.  It tasted great and was a decent price too.  Good Luck!

My cake baker is fantastic, but she's not really in your area.  If you're willing to come to the Kansas side (Shawnee), her name is Kristen Lynch and here is her website: http://www.kristinscakegallery.com/index2.php#/home/. She's young, full of fantastic ideas, and very reasonable priced.  I highly recommend her!  Good luck! =)

I'm using Just Cakes in Blue Springs.  She is so creative and easy to work with.  Plus, you definitely can't beat her prices.  I can't wait to see how everything turns out!  Good luck- cake testing was one of my favorite parts of planning!  :)

Also, if you go with any of the grocery stores like HyVee, go ahead and try a couple of them out, because they are all different.  I've seen some fabulous HyVee cakes from some of the stores, but at other locations the cakes didn't turn out so well.  You'll get a pretty good feel for their levels of experience when you meet with them for a consultation.

I agree with this.  We are getting our cake at our local Hy-Vee because their cake is delicious and their work is amazing (I have seen some of their cakes in person).  But one of my friends went to a Hy-Vee in another city and said that it was awful!

Classic Cakes in Lee's Summit!  Andrea has been great and makes cakes that are so different from anything else that I've tried!  They look good too!

Hands down Bridal Kitchen in Independence off of 291.  She did a friend of mines birthday cake, my shower cake, our wedding and grooms cake.  Jacque (the owner) is the sweetest and is great at working within your budget!
