I don't necessarily think I would have a problem with it, but I wouldn't know until I actually moved in and lived there for a while.

That is a beautiful kitchen though. How it looks alone would make me consider buying it in spite of the no pantry.

It IS beautiful. Randy LOVES it. My problem is that we have 9 cabinets this size at our apartment that are full of only kitchen equipment/supplies (pots, pans, plates, mugs, cups, etc etc). I have no idea how we'd fit all of that plus all of our food into those cabinets, especially without frustrating ourselves.

I was gonna say what Julie did, gorgeous kitchen! That said, I was also going to ask how much stuff you had, and if you'd have cabinet space for food. It looks like there is space to the left on the lone cabinet on one of the walls that you could always build a pantry, or add more storage there for food.

Ok, ditto PP about the gorgeousness of it. Love it.

My first thought is that I noticed an empty corner near the kitchen table. Maybe you could consider getting one of those wooden corner pantries that you just buy and place there. My dad has one in a corner on the other side of his fridge and while it probably doesn't have as much space as a normal pantry, it works seamlessly.

I moved into an apartment without a pantry, thinking it wouldn't be a big deal, but now it is the single reason I am so excited to move.
Granted, I cook a LOT, but I curse the stupid cabinet I have to keep our food in every single day.
No deal, Howie.

EDIT: Sorry, I realized that came across a little mean. I just hate hate HATE not having a pantry. It makes me sad.

You can buy a hanging rack that comes down from the ceiling and use hooks for your pots and pans. You could find a nice mug tree too for your coffee cups. Just a thought. I still really like that kitchen.

When we first looked at our house we thought it didn't have a pantry. We were willing to go through with it because there was enough cabinets to make up the difference. But luckily we found the pantry, but it's in the utility room and it's not very big. But it's better than nothing.

Thanks for the feedback. We got the email late last night that the house was on the market...and I just got a text a bit ago saying its already under contract...

We are sad about it. The kitchen was the only question I had on the house from the pictures. It's a beautiful house with all major updates then. It's just really discouraging. Most of the houses we've liked have gone into contract within 1-2 business days and we've not even had an opportunity to see them, nonetheless place an offer. The one from this weekend we saw the 2nd day it was on the market, put a great offer on it, and we lost it. It's more emotionally involving than I thought it would be. Part of me just wants to stop looking for awhile.

Ugh, that sucks. I remember how stressful looking for a rent house was (it was the EXACT same deal...all of the good ones would go soo fast), so I can't even imagine how stressful it would be to go through that with looking to buy.

Do you mind sharing what area you're looking in?

We are looking at basically anything off the DART red line -- Plano, Richardson, Dallas. There's a particular area of Richardson that's had some really great remodels go up at reasonable prices and those are the ones that have gone within a day. There were also two in Dallas - one in Lochwood and one in Forest Hills - that have gone within 1-2 days. Those neighborhoods appreciate in value so much, not to mention being in a great location, so I did expect those would be really hot.

Sorry you had to go through that with rentals, too.

It's so frustrating to find something you love and every time, before you even get a chance to see it, the houses are gone. How do these people get to it so fast?! We decided yesterday that our Realtor will keep a blank contract in the car and we'll have to make it there same-day.

I love those two neighborhoods, especially Lochwood. I was a Reilly Ram!!!! If we ever get to move into Dallas proper, it will be back to that neighborhood. I seriously miss it.

We ran into the same the same issue with houses going really fast when we were looking. In fact we were in NYC the morning we saw our dream house go on the market and had my mom go look at it with our realtor and we were ready to put in an offer sight unseen, but by the time my mom was dine looking at it, 15 contracts already in place. When we finally found a another place we were willing to buy, it was a Saturday night and our realtor was going home to do the comps and write up the the contract, and she called us that night and said a house two streets down was just put on the market at 5:00 that evening, and we needed to be the first ones to view it on Sunday. It was in such better shape than the first, and the inside had been completely updated. We were there bright and early, and we pulled together the contract on-site. You've really got to have a great realtor who is getting this stuff to yours soon as things are listed, that's what we found was key. And, you do have to be able to make a decision and execute quickly. Not a fun process!

Buying a house is definately stressful!! I had all of the same feelings and disappointments that you did when FI and I started our search. We did end up taking a full month break from looking and personally I think that it was a good thing. Neither of us really had any pressure to move quickly and it had gotten so stressful that it wasn't fun anymore. We were origninally looking exclusively in Richardson. After our break we came back and started opening our minds a little and started looking at Garland and even Rockwall. We ended up finding a house in Garland that was WAY better than anything we would've gotten in Richardson. I *never* would have expected that we would end up in Garland but we're up in the Firewheel area and I have to tell you I love it! I'm 5 minutes away from GB and 15 minutes away from Richardson where I work. Not sure if any of this info is helpful at all but I thought that I would share our experience. If you feel like you need a break, I say go for it! It may be just what you need!
