Reception venue help! Need suggestions

Hi Ladies,

I'm looking for some reception venue help. Originally, me and the fiance wanted to get married on the cape. He has lots of family in Falmouth and we were thinking we would like to stay around that area for the wedding. We REALLY want to have the reception somewhere right on the water, but prices at venues on the cape are really expensive. I know that nothing comes cheap that has the word "wedding" attached to it, especially on the cape, so we are prepared to spend a good chunk of change for the wedding. But we were thinking trying to look somewhere else maybe close to the cape, still on the water, but not on the cape... like Plymouth area or somewhere along those lines.

Anyone know of any budget-friendly nice reception venues on the water that's not on the cape? We are really open for ANY suggestions.

    New Seabury / Popponesset Inn is on the beach in Mashpee near Falmouth - you should check that out.  I've never been here but heard of Falmouth Yacht Club - you could do more research.  I've never even heard of this place but just found a place called Beach Breeze Inn in Falmouth on the water.  Keep us updated!

    White Cliffs would by another place to check out.  Not sure if it is budget friendly or not.  GL!

    Second New Seabury/Poppanessett Inn. The Poppy is a tent right on the water, and I don't think the prices are too bad, all things considered-- just make sure you factor everything in when pricing it out. I THINK, but am not sure, the that Falmouth Yacht Club is for members only. I think the Beach Breeze in is a little bit smaller, but is supposed to be really nice. I don't think they do weddings in the summerthough, only fall/spring.  Good luck.

    We had our wedding in Falmouth- St. Thomas Chapel on Falmouth Harbor, then the reception was at Brookside Club in Bourne.  It wasn't a far drive at all and it actually gave us more time to sneak away and take pictures at the lighthouse while the guests were getting settled in at the reception.  The prices were reasonable at the Brookside and the sunset off the back porch was amazing!  Pics in bio!  HTH!  GL!

    About how many people are you planning on having at your reception?  If you still want something on the water, how about Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.  I know that it sounds a little odd, but they do have a room that would work for a small reception (60-70 people) that looks over the water with a southern view.  You would need to bring in a caterer and such, but I've been told that the rental fee for hosting a function there is practically nothing.  This is a very informal setting for Cape Cod waterfront, but it is certainly budget-friendly.

    Here's a picture that I took from right in front of the building just after sunset last October.  The people who work there are really wonderful from my experience.

    How big is the wedding and the budget? I had the same problem choosing venues (budget constraints, but really wanted the Cape).

    Popponesset Inn is GORGEOUS, my dream venue actually, but they have a $5,000 site fee and a $15,000 food minimum on top of that for a Saturday night. Don't know what your budget is - it was way over ours!

    Beach Breeze Inn is adorable, but the only option is outdoors tented - something to keep in mind.

    I chose The Flying Bridge, very nautical, right on the Falmouth Harbor.

    White Cliffs in Plymouth is beautiful, very traditional country club ballroom (although tent is an option, and they have one so you won't have to rent from a separate vendor). Prices are about run of the mill for weddings in the area.

    Falmouth Yacht Club is casual, right on the water.

    West Dennis Yacht Club is a bit more formal, right on the water, but you'll have to buy a membership as weddings are only availble to members and I have no idea what those prices are.

    Not sure if this will fit your budget, but I had been curious about The Jones River Trading in Kingston http://www.thejonesrivertrading.com/.  It's not on the ocean or canal, but from the pics the location looks gorgeous by the river.  

    Just a thought.  Sorry I don't know much about it, but it might be worth checking out!
