Ceremony Only Site- Virginia Beach

I am getting married March 2012, we have a reception site at the Water Table, but we are struggling to find a ceremony only site. We can do the ceremony at the Water Table, however I don't want to have to flip the room. Most of the places I have checked out have required a reception as well. We will have up to 200 people, and don't really have a preference as to indoor or outdoor, just makes me a little nervous with the weather in VB in March. I would prefer it to be in Virginia Beach, but not too far of travel for Norfolk or surrounding cities either, just not over the HRBT. Any help would be greatly appriciated! Cool

I had the exact problem :)  We just got married a month ago.

We looked everywhere and I had a planner too, who had connections but nothing would work out (we literally spent weeks looking).  All the local country clubs required a reception on site as well.  We ended up going with the Norfolk Botanical Gardens and it couldn't have been more beautiful.  It was about a 30 minute drive to the reception but that didn't really end up being an issue.  We loved the combo of garden and water pictures that we got too.

If you book early enough you can get the rain location for $250 (the Rotunda).  With 200 people some will have to stand but I don't think it's a huge issue, you'd have to talk to them (ours was 150).

The Water Table couldn't have been more perfect.  Absolutely beautiful and Deb is great to work with!

Thanks! I have been talking with NBG and I'm going to check them out this weekend. The Renissance Garden that I really liked is booked for the day, but I'm hoping they will have other locations that can fit 200 people. I absolutely loved the water table. I was going to have it at madison loft and terrace in norfolk, but they ended up not opening. The Water Table was the next place we looked at and booked it right away! Thanks for the help.

Any public beach, state parks with large picnic shelters to duck under in rain.

I'm having the same issue I really wanted to do it at fort story but their restrictions have changed!!! I'm really picky and I want an outdoor beach ceremony but somewhere reasonably private - HELP!
  • Try the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel on Shore Drive. You can rent their private beach for $500 which includes 20 chairs. I believe each additional chair is $2 - $5. I don't remember the exact dollar amount for extra chairs off hand.

They also have a beautiful beach front deck that you can rent for your ceremony.
