Flower Cost

So...I'm totally new at this and trying to crunch some numbers.  We're probably going to have a wedding between 200-225 people.  Flowers we're looking for a branchy/candle enchanted forest look (more minimal on the flowers as this isn't a #1 priority for us).  Any idea between bouquets/bridal party, centerpieces and chuppah what type of price range we're looking at for a wedding that will take place either in Central NJ or the Hudson Valley?????

Thank you so much!

Honestly, it all depends on the florist you go to.  We can recommend different florists, but you'll have to contact them directly to figure out prices and price differences.

I agree with PP. I went to five florists last week (it was by far the hardest and most painful vendor decision FI and I had to make!!!) and they all came in within about a $1k difference of each other. Choosing a florist is so hard because it's all based on whether or not you think the person gets your vision and will give you the quality you are looking for. We ended up choosing Rose Petals & Lace because they had the most consistant work and it looks very high quality. I would recommend going to a number of different places to get quotes (but like I said before, it is PAINFUL because you keep repeating the same thing over and over and over again haha). We got a chuppah and I can tell you that the general range was between $700-1000, which was for a chuppah covered in chiffon with flowers at the top of it). Centerpieces and other things is really all based on what type of flowers you are using and how big of a piece you are looking to get.

As Peaches said, which florist you pick can make a big difference in cost.  A lot of people like to say that such and such florist will "work with your budget" but I think that's almost always true.  Of course, what you get for that budget will differ from florist to florist.  We got quotes from three florists for pretty similar flowers and the highest quote was almost 3 times as much as the lowest quote.  (Of course, some florists have better quality and better design skills than others, so it can be tricky to compare based on cost alone.)

But also what kinds of flowers you pick (some are more expensive than others generally, and out-of-season flowers can cost more than in-season ones) and how many you'll need (meaning how many bouquets and centerpieces and such you'll have, but also how big each of these components are) will make a huge difference in price.

Because of this, it is really hard for any of us to say what is reasonable for you to spend.  I'd figure out what you want to spend, get some ideas on how many bouquets and centerpieces you'll need and what you want to do with the branches, and then go out to florists whose style you like and see what they'll do with your ideas within your budget.

I spent about $4k for what you're describing, but I had 14 tables and paid about $500 to decorate an arch as opposed to a chuppah.  I included the $500 I spent on mercury glass-look candle holders and candles from an NYC wholesaler, because most florists I talked to didn't include things like that.
