Cake questions;)

Where did you get your cake?

How much was it per slice?

What flavors did you order?

We're unsure of what we want and we need to stay under $4.50 per slice.  I'm on board with shopping around on this now that FI has persuaded me to eat cake until I die!

I don't know how much it was per slice (only that it was probably too much), but we ordered from Jacques. It was an amazing cake. DH doesn't like cake, but he likes cakes from Jacques. We had alternating tiers: almond/raspberry, chocolate/hazelnut, white/raspberry.

    Obviously we like raspberry!

We're still trying to decide.  We had two cake testings last week--one with Tastefully Wright (Wilton) and the other at Jacques (Suncook).  Basically, it ended up being a split decision, (one liked one better and the other liked the other better).  So we're still talking about it and trying to decide.  We may end up trying another place also.

We're estimating that our final count will be around 80-95 people, and we didn't necessarily want to keep the top layer, (just more of a pain to deal with).  The price that we got, (including $100 delivery charge), from Jacques was $545.70.  This would be a 6", 9", and 12", (3 layer) cake with almond, spice, and white flavors--no filling, but a special design.  There would be an extra $75 rental fee for a cake stand.  It works out to about $5 per serving for the cake alone.

The quote that we received from Tastefully Wright was for 3-tiers, 8", 10", and 12", (slightly larger), that would feed up to 106.  (She said this was $4 per serving).  She would decorate the cake any way we wanted and the price included any flavors, fillings, or designs that we wanted.  She would rent us a cake stand for $40 (free rental if we return it ourselves the following day), and there is a $40 delivery and set-up fee for our venue in Jaffrey.  We sampled a white chocolate almond cake drizzled with raspberry brandy, a french vanilla cake with french vanilla mousse, a hazelnut cream (which we didn't like so much), and a cinnamon flavored cake with cream cheese filliing, (tasted just like a Cinnabon roll).  We discussed butter rum as another possible filling for one of the cakes.

Hope this info helps.  Good luck with your search--tasting cakes is yummy, but I wish we hadn't done both in the same day--my belly ached!

We went through Jacques for our cake.  I'm not really sure what the price per slice is as it is included in our package at our venue, but we did decide to pick a cake that was an upgrade from the package (because we loved this one cake that went with our theme) and so we paid a $150 upgrade charge.

We have a 3 tier cake and each tier has different flavor combos.  The bottom tier is almond cake with amaretto buttercream, the second tier is lemon cake with lemon buttercream, and we decided to make the top tier the almond with amaretto also because FI and I just thought it was super yummy and since it was our tier we wanted to relive the wonderfulness of the almond cake! lol!

Where did you get your cake?  Patisserie Bleu in Nashua (now out of business)

How much was it per slice?  I don't know what it was per slice, but we did a 3 tier cake and a half sheet cake and it was a little over $400, I think.  That price included delivery.  We did the sheet cake in the back to keep costs down.  I don't think anyone knew the difference!

What flavors did you order?  They used my grandmother's white cake recipe and we had a peanut butter buttercream filling and a regular buttercream frosting.  So good!

We used Wild Orchid Baking Company in North Hampton

I don't remember exactly how much it was per slice but....we did a 4 tier round cake that fed 220 for $900 I believe (or very close to it plus or minus)

We had a simple yellow cake with lemon and raspberry buttercream filling. We had buttercream icing on the outside with just fondant ribbon around each base and triple swiss dots on each layer. Overall, a very simple cake.

It was delicious and I highly recommend Wild Orchid!

We have not gone cake tasting yet...we are going in two weeks. We are going to Jacques and the loose quote we got is $318-$450 for a small cake to cut, and sheet cakes in the back for 135-150 guests.

Where did you get your cake? We are getting it at The Red Blazer in Concord

How much was it per slice? It was ~ $2.50 per slice. For $470 we are getting a 3 tier cake, a sheet cake for the extra people, a 10inch birthday cake for FI's nephew, and delivery

What flavors did you order? Our cake is almond flavored, each tier has 3 layers of mousse, two are going to be raspberry and one is white chocolate. Their cake is amazing!

Where did you get your cake? The Mixing Bowl, LLC in Haverhill, MA

How much was it per slice? $3.50/slice. We paid just over $500 for about 150 people for a 4-tiered round cake, covered in fondant. This also included a beautiful silver cake base for our cake to be displayed on.

What flavors did you order? We had two flavors - one was a White Chocolate Strawberry Mousse cake, which was three layers of yellow cake with vanilla buttercream, white chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries - the other flavor was three layers of chocolate cake with milk chocolate buttercream and mousse. Seriously the most delicious, amazing cake I've ever had in my whole life - and she's an absolute DOLL and is awesome to work with. I cannot recommend her enough!

Where did you get your cake?  Cakes 5th Avenue Pelham, NH

How much was it per slice? $3.25 per slice

What flavors did you order? Lemon cake with strawberry preserve filling and vanilla buttercream.

I have to second using The mixing bowl in Haverhill Ma.  Caitrin makes the most amazing cakes I have ever tasted. The only reason I am not using her is because we changed our date and she was not available.

We also sampled Michelle's Gourmet Pastry in Manchester NH. The cake is really good and prices are as low as $2.75 per slice.

our cake is made by our venue (included in our package), but my friend had her cake made by Crosby's Bakery in Nashua.  She RAVED about the price compared to all others she had looked at in S. NH (I think $2.50/slice?).  And I can attest to the fact that the cake was delicious, moist, and very pretty!
