Chanler / No amplified music allowed

Hi.  I'm getting married at the Chanler Hotel which doesn't allow amplified music after 6 pm (it's an evening wedding).  We're still hoping to have dancing at our wedding!  Has anyone heard/seen a band perform acoustically & still get the crowd on the dance floor?

    Hope you find someone!  We didn't book at the Chanler for this very reason!!!  Chanler was the first place we considered and when we learned of their no amplified music after 6 pm, we were worried that all of Newport would be this way!  Hope you find someone who can get your crowd going!  Good luck!

    The Chanler can't have amplified music passed 6 pm because a neighbor (near the Cliff walks) won't allow it. They have been in court for years over this issue. It's too bad because the Chanler is such a gorgeous location. We couldn't imagine not having music for our evening wedding so it was a No. I don't know if you consider a dance or theatrical performance for your guests to keep them entertain. Maybe even a slideshow or readings, something different?
