My SO and I are going to Vegas for our honeymoon. He has never been and I have only been there once. (I was under 21 at the time so I missed a ton of things.)
What are some of the must see attractions and things we shouldn't pass up?

I've been there a few times and the best thing I've done there was take a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon. The one we chose flew us over the strip, over the Hoover Dam, and then over and through the Grand Canyon. We landed at the bottom of the canyon for a picnic lunch and got to hike around for a good 30 minutes before heading back. I would recommend this to anyone going there (:

My FI loves Vegas...so much we're getting married there! The number one thing we love to do is so simple...sightseeing. You can never get enough of it. Also, everyone is always talking about the strip but downtown (Fremont St) is a blast! The casinos and drinks are cheaper plus they have shows and ziplining. It's very laid back and fun.

Some of our favorite things to do in Vegas is hanging out in the amazing pool areas of the hotels during the day and sight-seeing later in the day/evening.

We loved riding the rollercoaster at NYNY, the aquarium at Mandalay Bay, gondola rides at the Venetian, going to the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris, the fountains at the Bellagio, etc..
We also got a pass from vegas.com to get into all the bars/clubs at The Palms for one price. We had access to Rain, Ghost Bar, Playboy Club, and Moon which was neat.

Also, try to catch a show. We've seen The Blue Man Group and KA by Cirque du Soleil. Both amazing shows!

My biggest advice is to book your hotel based on the rooms and the pool complex area because you can access all the other hotel's casinos, bars, clubs, restaurants, attractions, etc... so what matters is where you're sleeping and swimming. We still rave about the lazy river at MGM Grand and the waterfalls at the Mirage.

I'm not to worried about the pool situation. We have 24/7 access to a pool now and we rarely use it.

If you're in Vegas anytime between late April and early October you will care about the pool. Today, it's 100 degrees there and the sun is brutal! The only way to keep cool is to either be swimming in the pool or inside in the air conditioning <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" />

Plus, the pool at the Hard Rock is one of the most fun in Vegas. It's famous for it's atmoshere, and that they have card tables with seats in the water.

Which will no doubt be freezing, so you might want a light jacket for inside. Gotta love the desert...hot as balls outside, and freezing inside so that you are uncomfortable no matter where you are. LOL.

Other than that, just walk the strip and check out the hotels. See the Bellagio fountains show, the Forum shops at Cesars Palace, the gondolas at the Venetian, the priate show at TI, etc. Definitely go see a show if you can. If you want good seats to a popular show, buy them in advance. If you are open to different shows and seats, buy them at one of the many Tix4Tonight kiosks on the strip.

Lots of good ideas. For a first-timer in Vegas, I think just walking to the different hotels and checking them out is fun; each hotel is truly unique and different from one another and some are very beautiful (I love the Bellagio). You can also venture off the strip and go to downtown or "older" Vegas. They have a neat light show at night.

For a show recommendation, we absolutely loved Cirque du Soleil LOVE at the Mirage (this is the Beatles one). It was fabulous and I have heard nothing but rave reviews about all the Cirque shows. Tickets are a bit pricey, but I thought it was worth it.

And yes if you're there in the summer, you'll want a nice pool. I've been to Vegas twice in June and it was above 100 every single day. It. Is. Hot. Though I've never stayed at Mandalay Bay, they have a man-made beach and it's supposedly awesome (for future reference if you ever return).

Yeah, I have to agree -- the pools in Vegas aren't your apartment complex pool. I plan every trip there around pool season! I agree with the PP, just visit the casinos, see the fountains, see a show if you can and plan a nice meal or two. Vegas is full of delicious food and cocktails. The Eiffel Tower restaurant would be a great place for a special dinner if you can fit it in the budget. There are tons of great clubs if you are into that as well as lounges if you want something more laid back. Also, get a limo from the airport to kick off your trip--they aren't that expensive there and they will take you to the Las Vegas sign for pictures and you can have champagne on the way. Presidential Limo is the one most people use.

We stayed there last summer, the beach is pretty nice. We rented a cabana there which was sooo worth the money because their pool gets incredibly crowded, it was nice to have a reserved (shaded) spot to come back to.

i'm not a fan really however red rocks outside of vegas is fun though-bike trails etc.., hoover dam and lake meade.

i second the helicopter tour to the grand canyon. We had a great time on that. . . . just make sure you aren't hungover when you get in that bumpy little helicopter!

I've been to Vegas a few times and here is what I recommend:
Bellagio Water Show
Pirates Show at Treasure Island (TI) - if they still have one...
Fremont Street Experience - there is a light show over the street at night GORGEOUS
Tour the hotels/shops on the Strip - I loved M&M World for a shop!!

Can't give much info on hotels, as I have only stayed at TI and Excalibur, but TI's rooms were amazing!!

check out Mandalay Bays pool -- it is awesome. If your having a wedding there, check out the Valley of the Falls. Its so pretty.
