escort card question

i'm starting to work on escort card labels but i'm not sure how to word some of them. for instance, i don't have fully families coming for a few of them, it's a mother and 1 or 2 children. would i just word it "the smith family, table 3" or mrs. amy smith & ms. valerie smith?

advice?!

getting down to the wire now ladies! i can't even believe it!! :)

Re: escort card question

  • If the children are adults, I personally think they should have their own escort card.  If they are children, I would just put & family.
    September 2012: Invitations

  • I actually just did mine yesterday but I set it up a little differently.  I actually put my cousins at a different table then their parents (table right next to them).  I worded mine as "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" Table 1  and then I did "John & Jane Smith"- Table 2.. But, if I was you I would just put "Smith family", unless you want to do individual cards for each person?!
  • Agree with PP.  It is okay to put "family " even if the whole family isn't coming.  It would be rude to do that on an invite if the whole family weren't invited (for a lot of reasons).  But, on the escort card, they know who you mean.  The only reason I wouldn't do this is if you suspect someone might still bring the declined family members because then you wouldn't have enough seats/meals.

i am doing this too, for my first cousins. aunts & uncles at one table, kids at another.

but then i invited my second cousin and her husband but he can't come and she "replaced" him with her daughter, who wasn't initially invited. so i just want to word it right.

    thanks! :)

Maybe list the second cousin as "Mrs. Jane Smith & (daughters name)"  or "Mrs. Jane Smith & guest"

  • You're doing groups?

    I put individual names.

    So:

    Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
    Table 1

Or, for a guest with a date:

    Mr. John Smith
    Ms. Jane Jones
    Table 1

Or for a family with two kids:

    Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
    Miss Sarah & Master James
