B&B tipping?

We are staying at a B&B for part of our Maui trip in a few weeks.  I have only ever stayed at a B&B once before, and I didn't pay (my boyfriend at the time did)  As such, I don't know if you are supposed to tip or anything.  Any thoughts?

Re: B&B tipping?

  • I have never stayed at a B&B, but aren't they usually run by the homes owner so wouldn't that go under the "you don't tip the owner of a company" rule?

I don't know, but when it comes to tips, I tip when the service I receive is amazing and I don't tip if the service I receive is horrible, no matter who the owner or whatever may be.

That's what I was thinking too.  I feel like it could be a situation where if the place is good you right some stellar reviews online and call it a day.
  • I would still leave a tip.  If I go to a hotel we always leave a tip for the cleaning people.  Even if you own the B&B you still have to clean it.
  • I'd leave a tip for cleaning.
