Tanning beds vs spray tan

Just wondering what to do a tanning bed or a spray tan I am wearing a strapless dress and have tanlines which I don't want to have any suggestions?

Re: Tanning beds vs spray tan

  • I would recommend a spray tan. You can ask for just enough to even out the tan lines, and won't increase your risk of getting cancer, freckling, wrinkles, or skin infections.
  • I'm doing a spray tan for this reason. i will be doing a trial run the week of my shower so I have the "number" of tan I want down pat.

  • There's a salon around me that offers a "Golden Glow Self Tanning Body Treatment."  the treatment includes full body exfoliation, a "precise application" of a mosturizing self-tanner.  This is something I've considered doing because I am not sure how I feel about spray tanning, and I don't want to use a tanning bed due to the health risks (although, I used to go constantly when I was younger).  Maybe you can find a salon in your area that does something similar...maybe even as part of a self-pampering package.  Just another thought!

If that isn't an option, I would definitely go for the spray tanning over the tanning bed.  You won't run the risk of turning red or hurting due to a burn!

  • If you're prone to burning easily and going on a HM where you'll be in strong sun, my personal suggestion would be to tan slightly in a bed so you have a base for yuor HM.  I know that's such thing as sun-screen, but for me even when I use it I tend to burn...and there'd be nothing worse than being burnt on your HM!

I'd tan a little and then spray tan a few days before the wedding to clear up anythign else.
  • I recommend a spray tan...but get a trial done first.  I did a trial last year and I looked aweful.  I was WAY too dark for my normal self.

I also recommend getting it done a person, not a machine.  That will help prevent any unsightly marks.
  • I am going to get a spray tan! I am curious so I am getting a trail done soon!

I've used this for a few years and it works great.  you can do a "trial" a few weeks before your wedding if you need to.  it's pretty natural looking too (if you don't let it cake up on your joints and such).  you can even build it up to get the right color...just do a light application daily starting like 3 days before your wedding.  some people are intimidated by doing it themselves, but i think this product is pretty hard to mess up.

  • If you do a spray tan do a practice one to see how you like it.  A friend of mine did spray tan before her wedding in October and it came out all splotchy.  Her back was all different colors and it stood out against her white dress.  If you're gonna do it be willing to invest some money so that it looks right.  You don't want to comprimise your pictures, or inperson appearance, on your big day.

  • spray tan.  tanning beds increase your risk of melanoma exponentially.  my dermatologist told me when I asked her the same question that i should do a spray tan because it will not cause wrinkles or cancer.
