As requested by katanne...
I'm helping my mom and aunt plan a bridal shower for my MOH/"sister' in August. That I won't be able to go to because I can't afford another plane ticket home. Grrr.
Anyways, they asked me to do all the paper goods for the party and help them come up with a design/theme. Given that most of her registry consists of kitchen goods, I suggested that they do a kitchen/cooking theme, in her favorite colors (red and black). I'll be printing all the paper goods and shipping them ready-to-go to my mom before the shower.
Basic Decor- tables with red/white gingham table clothes. Mason jars with black rafia tied around the neck of the jar, with bright red and white gerbera daisies.
Invitations:
The invitation. Will be printed to fit an A7 envelope.
These will be tucked into the invitations with a 4x6 recipe card clipped to it (see next pic). Each guest will write down their favorite recipe and will bring it to the party to slip into a photo album-style cookbook for her.
The back of the recipe card is the same (kissing couple), only it's got space for directions.
This sign (in a black frame) will go on a table at the entrance with the cookbook:
Favors:
We decided to go with a cookie/candy bar as a favor, similar to what Mutley did for her MOH's shower (I'll admit it, I blatantly stole the idea because it was so cute). My mom, my sister's MOH, and her grandmother will all be baking cookies and other assorted treats to put on different shaped platters and plates.
This will sit on the table in a black frame. There will be white Chinese-carryout-style boxes with black and red ribbon, and these stickers to seal them up:
Fun and Games:
Instead of having a guestbook, we decided to make up a recipe card for people to fill ingredients in. My mom is printing it in 11x17 and will frame it for my sister's kitchen when all is said and done.
And, the obligatory black framed table sign:
We're doing bridal bingo, because that seems to be a game that doesn't drive people nuts and isn't lame. Instead of letting people fill their own squares in (which either ends up with a bunch of people winning at once or no one winning at all), I filled in items off her registry for the squares, along with some random categories that are more flexible (something red, something monogrammed, she broke a bow, etc.). Each person will get a different Bingo card.
My mom asked if I could come up with another game to play, and I'm at a loss...any ideas ladies?
My mom and aunt loved this stuff so much, my mom now wants me to do the paper goods for my shower. I don't care if that breaks all sorts of etiquette rules...I love designing things and being creative, so if it'll make my mom happy, I've got no prob doing it (and letting her take all the credit for it).
So, essentially, I need ideas for a beach/ocean-themed shower at a martini bar...any suggestions (games, favors, etc.) are appreciated...I've got some tentative ideas, but would love to have some fresh (objective) eyes and brains to work with.
