BAD experience @ Liberty House, Jersey City, NJ

My fiance and I just left the Liberty House and were blown away by how badly we were treated. We are planning a wedding of approximately 250 people and would think that a location would want to sell it to the people viewing it. Apparently not.

Not only was the girl at the front INCREDIBLY rude and nasty to us but the person (who I will not out) was patronizing and seemed to lack knowledge. She treated us as if we had no idea what we were doing, and while we may look young we are both around 30 year old. The upstairs room is only nice because of the view and the "bridal suite" was a curtain on a balcony.

Its a shame that this experience left such a bad taste in my mouth, as I probably would have gone for dinner since I live about 1/2 a mile from the location. They have lost a customer in the banquet and dinner sense all together.

If the service is this bad now, why would I book a wedding with them? Oh, and its overpriced for what they offer.

Just a heads up...

I had pretty much the same exact experience at their other property the Stone House at Stirling Ridge.  I think you pay for the location/place vs. food or service.

    Exactly this.

In truth I don't really think you are missing out on anything with them.  Went to a wedding there and they kept the house music going while the wedding was on so we heard both at the same time.  Also the food is eh.  For the price you would pay for it you can certainly find something else!

In that price range, look at the Jersey City Hyatt, I went to a wedding there and the service and food was amazing! Plus the view is spectacular, that room is also a blank canvas so you can do a lot in that space. Good luck!

I've been to a few weddings there and although the view is nice, the food I though was not that great.

We too considered the Liberty House, we went to dinner there after we met the wedding person there. The service and food was awful to the point my FI complained. We picked the JC Hyatt and so far so good

That was one of the first places we visited when we were venue hunting.  The sales lady rushed us through the entire booklet, and she didn't seem interested in selling the place to us.  She just read straight through the booklet.

I think it was also because we looked fairly young, and maybe she thought we couldn't afford it.

The outside grounds are ugly.  The only thing you're paying for is the nice view of the skyline.

We also had a bad experience there when we went to check it out.  Anyone else notice that the building on all of their marketing materials shows a lush lawn with a great building and skyline behind it? When the lawn is really on the same side as the skyline and the building reversed? I didn't notice at first but my FI pointed it out to the lady there and she rolled her eyes at him.

I heard that they dont have air-conditioning for the cocktail hour...

I went to their sister place, The Stonehouse, its amazing to look at, but way too overpriced.  The food isn't good either, you pay for the scene.  Also, the bar is not in the main room.  The lady there is very nice though and tried to sell us off days with perks, but the reviews aren't so good on the food...

This is a really old thread. I'd suggest starting a new post with your question.

Been there for corporate functions, the only thing good about it was the view, and that day it was cloudy and rainy, so even that was moot.
