Deep breaths and a big sigh over my mock up of my wedding centerpieces...

Ladies - If you don't mind sharing ... How much did you spend for each centerpiece for your wedding? What was the look you were trying to achieve?
Also - what about your bridesmaids? Did everyone carry the same size bouquet.? including your MOH?

What did you spend on YOUR bouquet?

Here's my issue:
I'm in a quandry over my centerpieces. My Florist made a mockup of what they will look like. However their not only my centerpieces for the reception but the flowers that will be arranged on pedestals for my ceremony. While I think the arrangement would work as a centerpiece for a table - I'm not convinced they will look right on pedestals. I had him make them low and slightly long because I want people at the reception to be able to talk to each other across the table. While the look is very elegant I didn't get that wow factor. I don't know if I'm focusing too much on flowers that will only be for a 1/2 hour ceremony but to me the whole look is important from ceremony to reception & I feel like its missing something. Their not as big and lush as I thought they would be.

I'm just curious as to what you guys paid and how important it was for you?

I tend to be a perfecctionist and I'm really trying to pay attention to my perfectionistic ways yet not settle. All of my sisters, nieces and my FI liked them. Their opinion is important to me but their taste is not as extravagant as mine. Well my FI has really good taste but I also think he's trying to make sure I don't go nuts on spending more $$ on flowers.  Haha just trying to give you some background.

I'm the only one that is having a hard time liking them. The florist offered to add 4 snap dragons to the centerpiece....the centerpiece is all roses and hydrangeas...the florist said the snap dragons would add a little length and height to the arrangement but it wasn't a good enough solution for me. Plus it'll  be an additional $150 in total for the centerpieces for 4  lousy snap dragons to be added to the arrangements??? What the hell?.. So I'm sitting here at a slow boil (the florist is off today) and I'm staring at these  friggin flowers trying to figure out what the hell can I  tell him to do to them without raking me over the coals for more money?

My friend used this florist & her arrangements came out gorgeous...also I have to go w/ this florist as my venue only allows you to choose their house florist. I do trust him..... I'm just trying to figure out what is a feasible amount that YOU would pay if it was for both your ceremony & your reception?

Also I found out he doesn't handle candles / candelabras!...I don't know what i'm going to do for my unity candle / memorial candle ceremony? I was hoping to go thru all one place....grrrrrr.

Sorry its so long ladies I'm just trying to vent and doing my best not to turn into a crazy bride to be!!! I think its slowly happening.

Here is a breakdown of pricing for my flowers:

BM bouquets: $75 each (the maid of honor had the same size as the rest of the bm's)
    Junior BM: $50
Flower Girl: $55 (she had a kissing ball)

    My bouquet: $150 (I think.  It could've been $175)

    Centerpieces: $100 each

    2 Ceremony arrangements- $100 each

My flowers were all roses and hydrangeas too (nice choice)!

For my unity candle, I purchased the candles and then the holders separately.  I had monograms made so I printed the monogram onto vellum paper and glued it onto the unity candle and put some ribbon.  It came out great.  What is it that you want the florist to do for the unity candle?

Also- is the price for the snap dragons ($150) for all of your centerpieces, or is that price PER centerpiece?  How many centerpieces are you having?  I would think that if the cost for 4 snap dragons in each centerpiece is a total of $150, that is reasonable.  To me, when you're already spending that much money, if $150 is going to give you something that will make you happy, just go for it!

If you're still unhappy, maybe you should start from scratch as to how you want the centerpieces to look.  You could browse through some pics online and bring it into the florist.

Not sure if any of this helps.... good luck!!

If I remember right my bouquet was $100, my BM bouqets were $50 (everyone had the same), my centerpieces were $40 each and my ceremony arragements were about the same.

    My bouquet was $250
My girls (all three had the same) were $125 each
    Flower girl $25
    bouts/ corsages $15 each
ceremony arrangements (we had 2) $150 each

For the reception, the total cost came to around $20 each (And that was for roses! I used Stop and Shop and Michaels - great way to save!)

If you are trying to save money by reusing your ceremony flowers, why not make all but two "table centerpiece size". And the two up where you get married be "ceremony size". Spend more on the two that will be in most of the pictures when you are actually getting married, that way the centerpiece ones can be proportionate for the actual tables. And just have your florist make two large ones for where you stand. later those can be placed in your reception room surrounding you and your new husband. Or they can be placed in the entrance way.

    HTH! GL!

Wow that's a great idea Terri....I never would have thought of that.

Why do I feel like I'm being cheap then w/ my MOH (i have 2 of them) and my 3 BM's bouquet...their all roses but each BM's boquet would cost $45 and the MOH's would cost $55 ...I was thinking of lowering the 2 MOH's to the same amount / size as the BM's ...I think I should've been clearer w/ the Florist...I guess I should ask exactly what their boquets would look like so they don't look like their holding a boquet full of nothing.  It seems like everyone spent more on their attendants then me. <harumph /> yet another dilemma of mine.

Thanks for the tip Terri. I appreciate it.

Don't feel that way. The price we paid for BMs was the price we were told it would cost. I would loved to go elsewhere (would have saved a lot of money!) But if you feel that you are getting a good price, <span style="text-decoration:underline;">and it's what you want</span>, I would go with that.

See if your florist will do a mock-up of the BM bouquets for you (some will) so you can get a feel for what the final out come will look like. My bouquet was 24 roses. BM bouquets were 16 roses. I would have done 18, 18 and 12, but was told that white roses (mine) were smaller flowers and I wanted my bouquet to physically look larger. And since the red roses are larger in general than the white if I had 18 in my 2 moh's bouquets theirs would have been the same overall size as mine (or close). And since I only had three girls it made sense for their to all be the same size. Usually the MOH bouquet is larger than the BM's but the pictures would have looked unbalanced if my one BM had a much smaller bouquets. So I settled on 16 roses for all of them and the 24 for mine. So my bouquet looks larger than theirs, but since white roses are smaller, my bouquet doesn't look huge.

Hope you can figure your flowers out soon!
