    My future SIL has a printing business...she is doing all of my media for the wedding {invites, reception cards, programs}
    she found the most beautiful paper stock. She's in Wilmington.

    I told her my ideas for my new year's eve wedding and she designed the invitation in her head...she never does the same thing twice!

    If you're interested in speaking with her let me know, I can pass along her number.

    EiDuffy: I sent you a PM

    But, honestly, I felt the same way. I tried every website under the sun. I came closest to getting mine off someone on etsy. It's a little overwhelming, though, with all the choices. But most of the invites, the designer will change the color scheme for free and tweak stuff pretty easily.

    I got my invitations from etsy.  I used PeakaBoo Designs.   Kris is awesome!  They changed the invitations to match my theme for no extra charge and they are going to do my ceremony programs and table numbers and names cards with the same design to match.  They dont charge any extra to customize and my invitations are beautiful. Hope that helps.  Good luck with your search!

    I went to an actual store, and it was the best thing I did for myself, regarding invitations.

    There are so many rules and regulations it seemed, I just didn't want to screw it up.  Did we put "and" between my parents, even though they are divorced?  Did we put a Ms. in front of my mom's name, even though she throws a fit and can't stand that title?  Do we put his parents on there?  Can we squeeze the reception info on the actual invite or do we really need a reception card (turns out we did not need a reception card at all, it fit fine on the invite itself, which cut waaaay down on cost).  These were the types of questions, and I had every person and their brother telling me their opinion.

    I decided to go to Apropos, which is up in Greenville.  It's a little store, they don't have a website.  You need to make an appointment to see them, because they have tons of books to help you go through.  It's okay, though, don't be intimidated.

    They were awesome to work with.  I have had several friends, and several Knotties, go there, and every time I have heard great things.  And it was the same with us.  They pointed us in the direction of our price point, then helped us narrow it down from there- everything from the invitation itself, to the wording, the inner envelope lining, the font type and color, the border on the invite, the monogram, etc.  It sounds like a lot, but because we were at a store with people who do it all the time and are trained to do it, it really was a breeze.

    This is why I recommend going to a store, instead of doing it online- it really does get overwhelming.  I wanted something very formal, because our ceremony was very formal.  You may want something different, and they will help you with that.  But you should not have to go it alone.  Give them a call.  If you can't get there during store hours, they will work something out with you- that's another thing I loved about them.

    I got mine from Rexcraft, and they're lovely.  Slightly more pricey than I wanted, but that was about the price cutoff point for any of the decent invites from any vendor:  Budget Weddings, American Weddings, Weddings by Dawn, etc.  I did mine online with their help, saw the proof online (didn't bother to buy a proof!), and they came out BEAUTIFUL!  I will say though, I looked at Budget Weddings and I *would* have ordered a proof from them...their spacing was weird on the website and I didn't trust that they would automatically fix it.

    I was really nervous about Rexcraft, but they came in about 1 week and looke GREAT!
