Inexpensive Wedding Venues in Central Maine

Good Afternoon all,

I'm kind of new at doing this but looking through the posts, everyone seems really helpful. I am planning on getting married next january and I'm looking for a reception venue.

Our plan is to elope to Antigua and have our ceremony/honeymoon there. We will then have a reception back at home with all our family and friends. I'm thinking of playing the DVD of our ceremony prior to the reception starting and then getting announced into the room as a traditional reception would go.

I'm trying to keep things inexpensive but still pretty. I'd like a venue that includes everything (food, dance floor, wait staff, bartending, silverware, water pitchers, etc) for a flat rate if possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions. I've read through a lot of them on here and although many are nice (loved the stome mountain arts center) they're a little pricey.

The guest list is at 120 right now but may have to be cut down to 100 and i'd like to keep the ceremony around 6000 total.

Help !!  :)

Could you possibly clarify the area that you're looking for?  Maybe a few towns or something.  Maine's geographical regions confuse the heck out of me (not originally from here), so I'm not sure what constitutes Central Maine.

I have a house in new sharon, so we're looking around this area, waterville/augusta. Althought my family is originally from NH, so even a half way mark (portland) might be an option. I am looking to have my wedding reception directly after we get back, so yes, it would be in January. Thanks for the clarifying :)

Millennium Convention Center is in Newport ME and is one of the mst affordable places I know of in Maine.  My MOH is getting married there this summer.  It's only about 20 minutes north of Waterville.

My reception is at that Howard Johnson Plaza/Convention Center in Portland and my reception is definitely costing less than 6000.  It could cost that, or more, if I were choosing higher priced entrees, but they have a wide range of food options that match any budget.

Keeley The Katerer is also in the Portland area and they are less expensive than my place.  I believe our moderator on this board was married there.

Both places include everything you listed.

My reception is going to be in Gray at Spring Meadows Golf Course and Country Club. We found it very reasonable and the Owner is very nice. She will give you a quote with everything included..
