Response Card Question

When you sent out your invitations did you write the guests name on the response card for them or did you leave it blank?

Re: Response Card Question

  • I'm having that debate myself, but:

    1) If the invitation is for those exactly specified on the envelope, and you don't want any confusion as to who is invited, include their names on the response card.

    2) If you trust that your guests will understand that whomever is listed on the invitation are those invited, go ahead and leave it blank for them to fill in, but be prepared to make calls if people decide to bring unwanted guests in the event that the intended +1 can no longer make it...makes sense?

My worry is that guests will bring whomever they want, and since our guest list is extremely tight, we'd like to save open spots for those who we really want to invite.

So, I'm still on the fence about writing their names on the response card or not. I guess it just depends on what your goal is.

Another thing is to add maybe something like, "We have reserved ___ seats in your honor" or something so they know that the invitation is limited to X # of people, and usually guests should understand that the invitation is limited to those addressed on the envelope...

  • I left the line blank, and used inner envelopes to specify who was invited.  If somebody doesn't understand the specification of invited guests on the inner guests, we're prepared to make phone calls.

  • I guess I'm more concerned about people forgetting to write their names down and I receive a bunch of nameless RSVPs!

<div>In that case, lightly number each response card and in your spreadsheet, make sure it matches up with the person/people you invite. Ex:</div><div>
    </div><div>1. Mr. & Mrs. Smith</div><div>
</div><div>On the response card, lightly write "1" in pencil somewhere discreet. When you get the response card back, you'll know who it was sent to if they don't write their names and/or it is illegible. </div><div>
    </div><div>HTH! :)</div>

  • We left ours blank and not one person has forgotten to fill in their name yet.  We have family were some people can come but not others in the same family, so we wanted to leave it open.  Printing issues were a thought too

  • Thanks ladies!
