Looking for a simple/casual venue

I am in the VERY early stages of planning (we aren't officially engaged yet) and am shopping around for wedding/reception venues.  Since this will be a second marriage for both of us, we don't want/need the traditional style wedding.  We are hoping to find something in the Chicago or surrounding Chicago area that isn't too expensive.  Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

    St Charles has a few small boutique hotels that are nice. Hotel Baker has a very old elegant look to it. Herrington inn reminds me of a Bed and breakfast. They have lovely small reception rooms.

    Both the Herrington Inn and Hotel Baker are 2 of the most expensive venues in Northern Illinois....

    I opted for the Hotel Baker, but was very dissapointed with the staff...we are going with The Herrrington Inn.  The staff at Herrington has beyond exceeded our expectations and is worth the money. They have special packages for morning, afternoon and evening weddings.
