breakfast the next AM

Hey all,
Im getting married at a hotel and they want to charge $14.95 pp plus tip and tax for a cold breakfast the morning after my wedding. Im so mad at myself for not negotiating on this before I booked! We are having almost 75 ppl staying at the hotel the night of my wedding- not to mention we will all be at the bar the night before!
Im sure there is nothing I can do now- but just wondering if anyone has any tips for negotiating on this type of thing?  How are you all handling breakfast the next AM?
thanks!

For a cold breakfast that is just outrageous.  We're paying $17/pp but getting a lot of hot options (and it is still a bit of a ripoff IMO.)

Is there a restaurant or breakfast place nearby that would be an option?  Or, if the hotel doesn't do hot breakfast, maybe they would let you use (and pay for) a meeting room and bring in your own catering?

I would ask them if you book a certain amount of rooms will they throw in breakfast for free or try to work it in to the room rate. P.S. I would not pay that much for a cold breakfast.

We decided not to have breakfast the next morning because the price just seemed a little ridiculous.  We're giving them a lot of business.

I'm not sure how you could negotiate it now, but my future SIL said that for her wedding, they had the cost of breakfast added to the "discounted" price of the room so it wasn't a big burden on them.  The breakfast isn't really that good - maybe you can have it catered nearby?  Like a brunch after everyone checks out?

This is what we did; it was included in the rate of the room. Then we all went to the buffet and sat together. It worked out well because some of the early risers got to eat too. Definitely try to negotiate- you've got a lot of people and that's got to have some power.... Or else take it elsewhere. Good luck!

We went to a wedding this summer and they had a breakfast at a local coffee shop the next morning. The food was great and I'm sure a lot cheaper than a hotel. We're doing ours at my parents house.

We are not doing a sit down breakfast the hotel offers a free continental breakfast which also includes some hot options.

At a wedding I went to this summer we all met in the hotel restaurant for breakfast, but paid for our own meals.  This worked out well because not everyone that stayed at the hotel came to breakfast and I didnt think anything of having to pay for myself.

Wow - that is insane. At first I was thinking the price seemed normal, because we paid for a private breakfast the morning after....but we had a full hot breakfast with french toast, bacon, eggs, etc. etc. Unfortunately, I doubt they will do much for you at this point but I would ask if there is something they would be willing to do - especially if you guarantee more people than their minimum.

I am thinking of holding one at my parents house since our hotel wants $35/pp for a full hot and cold breakfast.  I hit the floor!

That's a lot for a cold breakfast. We're doing ours at a restaurant and they're charging around that pp, but with eggs, bacon, fruit, waffles, juice, coffee, breakfast pastries and tea all included.

That is high- our hotel had a beautiful hot breakfast with omelet stations, meat options, pancakes, french toast, etc drink service etc- it was very nice and I forget exactly, but Im pretty sure it was $15pp (it may have been $19) so for a cold breakfast that is very high. We loved breakfast the next day and it was so nice to see everyone- I agree w/ trying to get a conference room and just cater a nice breakfast or even just bagels/cereal in a hotel suite the next day.
