QOTD

Tax season's coming up.  Do you usually get money back or owe?  For the married ladies, have you noticed a difference in your taxes (if you file jointly)?

I always got money back.  I much rather get $ at this time rather than owe it.  Fortunately, DH always did the same, so it worked out well.  He always gets way more than I do because of his write-offs, so I don't really notice a difference filing jointly because I know the majority of it is his return... however, we have our home business which also helps out!

For some reason we efiled weeks ago and we are still waiting for the federal return.  Usually we get it in about a week!

I usually get money back. And my stepfather lectures me about that, but I'm okay with it. I have noticed a difference since this is our first year filing jointly. We're getting back what I usually get back, even though we're filing together. More income does not  equal a bigger refund for us!

I always got money back but now that I'm filing jointly with DH we owe.  DH owns his own business so he always owes at the end of the year.

I ALWAYS get money back and I really really look forward to it to each year.  DH always gets money back too but we do our taxes differently.  So this year we will see.  We just went to do our taxes on Friday so hopefully we will get back as much as I'm used to getting back.

I always get money back. FI on the other hand gets taxed like crazy all year long. The only thing that saves him from owing at the end of the year is owning a home.

The man who did FI's taxes told him he need to have some kids to get a better tax break. I laughed and told him that getting an extra $3500 at the end of the year doesn't come close to what a child cost all year long.

My dad does our taxes, so he checks both ways to see which way works the best.  Both years it has worked to our advantage to file jointly.

As a homeowner, we get a refund, BIG TIME!!!  We're throwing most of it into the bank, but also using it for part of our vacation, and we're completely gutting and remodeling our master bath.  Jacuzzi tub, makeup station, granite countertops, etc. here we come!!!
