Marriage license questions!

What do we need to bring to get our marriag license?

On the website all it says is "You will need to complete the marriage license application, provide identification and make a sworn statement that the information that you provide is true."

What type of ID? Drivers license? SS Card? Birth Certificate?

I think it varies by town, but to play it safe I would probably have my license and one other form of ID (passport if you have one). We got ours in Kent, and they didn't even ask us to see one form of ID. lol. My guess is that you'd be fine with just your license, but it doesn't hurt to play it safe.

haha! yeah i was thinking my passport in addition to my drivers license would prob be best - thats what jobs accept as ID so should be enough for the town

its getting so close!!! (ps i have another fitting with leila today - yippee! and thanks for suggesting her again!)

Ours wanted licenses, that's all.

Later she asked for SS, only I had mine, DH did not, but she gave us our marriage license anyway.

do you get the marriage license before the wedding? if so, how far in advance?

i think it depends on the town, but its 30-60 days maybe? im just under a month so i know we can get ours now

In most cases, the Marriage License is valid for 65 days (so about 2 months), so get it within about 2 months of the wedding...and for ID I haven't done it yet, but it says to bring photo ID, so whether they ask for it or not, I would bring your driver's license and maybe a passport if you have it (or a back up of SS card/Birth Certificate)...

you will need your mothers maiden name... and you may need to know where they were born but i'm not exactly sure..photo ID social security.you both need to be there and the license is good for 65 days after you get it. You also get the license in the town you are getting married in not the town you live in

We just got ours in New Haven and we just needed our drivers licenses and ss cards.
