We did ours in Stillwater.  We went to 4 different locations in Stillwater.  Down by the water, some old alleys and an old red barn out of town a bit.  Loved it very much.  Does your photographer have any suggestions?

Like Bridget said, I would see if your photog has any suggestions.

We did ours at Minnehaha Falls & they turned out great!

We did ours at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove. They came out really well too. One thing to watch for at parks though is some parks require you to have a photography permit... I know crazy... but I would check their websites or call before you just show up if you are looking for a park setting.

We did ours at the Milly City Museum.  They had brick walls, glass walls, steel, shairs, grass, tall grass, a bridge in the back, windows with bars and more.  I was really impressed. It is right next to the Gutherie Theater.

Good Luck.  I just got mine done, and I was super nervous but I had so much fun!

I just had my engagement photos taken a couple weeks ago.... we did everything near the Stone Arch Bridge.  On one side is the Guthrie theater and the Mill City Museum and on the other side is a park and the old Pilbury factory.  I loved the area because we got lots of different styles all in close proximity - grassy from the park, urban from the factory, and modern in the Guthrie.  If you want to see pictures, my photographer has everything posted in her website leahpphotography.com.  You'll need to go into the website, click on clients, and enter Mills as the password.  I'm so excited for you!  I loved e-pics :)

Leeann+devin I looked at your pictures and they are awesome. We're taking ours down there on Sunday I am so excited. I was wondering what building you're in that has the Gold medal park sign behind you? Did you have to buy tickets or pay something to get in there? We plan on just walking around the stonearch bridge so if you have any ideas for me that would be wonderful!!! Also, the picture where you're standing up in a window where's that?

I second Stillwater! We did a 1950s shoot there and everything turned out beautifully. The main street has a lot of great shops that you can use, like a candy store, jewelers, and malt shop. The waterfront is also lovely this time of year.

I creeped on leann's pictures (loved them!) and as I suspected, the building you are talking about is the Guthrie theatre. I got some pictures done in that yellow room as well, and as long as you are there during business hours you should be able to get in no problem with no tickets/fee to enter. :)

We just had ours taken yesterday. We were at the Gutherie and St. Anthony Main. It was a lot of fun. If you haven't picked your photographer i'd go with Kimberly Williams. She was AMAZING to work with!

ha we are also doing ours in the Stone Arch Bridge/Guthrie area. I choose this area because it is very "twin cities" and our wedding is more in the suburbs, I wanted some urban photos. I would agree that this area also has a really big range of backdrops to choose from, which is also why it appealed to me.

I've always loved Centennial Lakes Park, there are tons of little intimate spots around the park to take pictures. It's pretty much photo-op city :-)

Glad you guys liked the pictures :)  Sometimes I get more self critical when looking at my own pics than other people's.  And indeed MusicalSunlight is correct - those pics in the yellow room and with the Gold Medal sign are at the Guthrie.  It's kinda tricky to find, but the people who work there are super helpful. My photog said that the other spaces in the Guthrie look really cool to walk in (like a blue lounge you have to walk through to get to the yellow room) but that she hasn't been able to get those spaces to look great in photos.  Maybe your photog could try?  Or maybe don't put in too much effort in those spaces?  I hope you guys have a good time!  There are so many fun and different areas around there to take photos...
