Did you get a travel agent?

Just curious if you ladies booked your own honeymoon or if you got a travel agent to help out and if she got you any of those little extras you couldn't get on your own, etc. Thanks!

We booked our own.   I did speak with a travel agent early on and it didn't seem like they had much better to offer than I had already found.   They know about all the special offers and offers that are coming up, but I was able to find the same information by doing some digging online.

I would try the travel sites, CheapCarribean.Com, Travelocity, Expedia, etc.  Also go straight to the resort sites to the their specials, etc.

We used Travelocity.  We got an incredible deal--45% off and upgraded to a suite.  My travel agent said she couldn't beat it.  We got our rental car on hotwire for cheaper than what she quoted us also.

We planned our package but didn't book it--just saved it in our account until we saw that 24 hour 45% off sale and booked it then.  We probably watched the rates for about 4 months before we booked it.

I've always used a travel agent on vacations.  I've heard good things about web travel places (like carribeanvacations.com I think?), but I always like to hear about places first hand.  And mine always seems to have good personal tips on how to handle things and guides us to the right hotels, excursions, etc.  That's just been my experience.

I used a travel agent. We used Jennifer with VIP. She priced matched anything I found online. We were upgraded at the hotel, and received more little extras than another couple we met there that booked on their own.

Ive been stressing trying to find the best deal.  I was over on the honeymoon boards and picked up a name of a travel agent and she is soooo good!  Very detailed and explains everything.  Even sent me pictures.  Best of all she is 5-600 cheaper than what I could find.

We started booking ours through Travelocity but found better rates through AA.com and Hilton.com.  We save about $400 I think.  However, we have used Expedia and Travelocity for a couple of other trips and have been very happy with them.  When we go to Rome, I'm going to book through Expedia.  They've consistently had more hotels and better deals on Rome than Travelocity.
