Hey!

This morning, everyone seems to be in a bad mood, so I'm trying to focus more on the great things going on than the bad things.  Even with the worst situations, you gotta look for a silver lining!  Here's what I'm thankful for today:

1.  Political ads/disscussions on FB/etc will begin to die down
2.  It's Wednesday, which means the weekend is finally nearing
3.  My niece or nephew will be born today!!

What are you thankful for today?

Re: Hey!

  • My husband might actually be able to get full time work with Obama being re-elected president. This is only because conservative/republican/libertarian benefactors tend to give more money when their "enemy" is in power. The irony is that he hasn't been able to work full-time because the economy has been crap....
  • @Riss, I'll drink to that!!!
@Resa, yay!!  Have fun with your new niece/nephew :)

Although it's a really bad sign... maybe the interest rates will drop even more (if it's possible for them to get any lower?) and help my husband and I get a great deal on a mortgage when we start house hunting next year... but that's a bit selfish on my part...

I'm excited to host my sister's baby shower this weekend... there are 21 people coming!!  We're going to do a game where we have people match president's baby pictures with their current :)
  • I really hope and pray your H is able to find a full-time job, Riss.

Resa -- yay for babies! I'll also be glad to see less political crap on FB for a bit.

I'm thankful that we're expecting cool, rainy weather this weekend. I know most people think my love of that is nuts (looking at you, Resa Laughing), but we've still been having temps in the 90s, and I'm ready for some nice, fall weather.

  • Yay for babies and baby showers!  And Riss, I'm definitely praying for your H to be able to work full-time soon, I know how hard that can be.

I'm very thankful that H's office has returned to full-time, although we don't know yet if it's permanent or temporary, so I'm trying not to get too excited.  Things still aren't where he'd like them (hasn't gotten a raise or increase in PTO for a few years, is still having to pay for a portion of his health care premium, and no 401K matching), but we're better off than a lot of people so I'm trying to keep it in perspective.

  • I am thankful that H has passed the background check, and is now scheduling the drug test.  Hopefully, he will begin working soon.  It will be 3 years next week since he had a full-time permanent job; 15 months since he worked at all.

  • I never thought of that newly, about the houses!  We will be house shopping soon too so I guess that's one thing to look forward to!  Also, H and I have been married for 4 months today so that's a happy thought! :o)   Thanks for starting this thread Resa, it's always good to look at the bright side, even if it seems so far away...

  • I'm thankful that despite the turn the economy has taken, Oklahoma has one of the strongest economies in the nation.  H's job is going really well and we are getting to spend so much more time together!

  • Love a "gratitude thread" - great idea, especially today.

I'm grateful for my sweetheart husband, who is not afraid to be the leader of our family in Christ.

I'm grateful for our little (toddling) boy, who kisses my belly and tries to say his baby sister's name.  On that note . . . I'm grateful to still be pregnant!

I'm grateful for a warm house, and the ease of getting food, water and medication whenever we need it.

Most of all, I'm grateful that no matter what happens, God is still God and Heaven is still Heaven, and that our reward, if we can endure, is Eternity.

    God bless you.
  • J&R, that was a beautiful list!  Thanks for sharing :)
