Pantsuit vs. Dress?

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this.

Anyway, my mom has never been much of a dress/skirt person because the the the varicose/spider veins in her legs. I haven't seen any place offering a pantsuit for a mom to wear vs. dresses. I'd like for my mom to feel comfortable and not force her to wear a dress. Is there any bridal shops that offer pantsuits for moms instead of just dresses? Is this something that is considered wrong/taboo? I honestly could care less if it is. All I want is for my mother to be comfortable on my big day.

There is nothing wrong with wearing a pantsuit to a wedding. Like you said, if it is comfortable on her, let her wear it.

Have you tried department stores at the mall for one? You would probably have a better selection there than a bridal store.

I agree with the PP. She should head to a department store and find something that makes her feel beautiful.

There are lots of cute "Alex Evening" pant suit seperates- MFIL was going to wear a pant suit but decided against it.
I'm a huge fan of *these* pants. I've seen them on everyone from a size 2 to a size 24 and they look great and classy!

I agree to check department stores, also she could wear a long dress (my FMIL is wearing a summer floor length dress) if its primarily varacose veins that holding her back from wearing a dress.

My grandma, who has been like a mother to me, already asked me if I expected her to wear a dress or if she could wear a pants suit, which I know she would prefer. I told her she can wear whatever she finds comfortable. I think alot of times she buys her pant suits at Macys or Kohls or other typical mall stores.

There is nothing wrong with your mom wearing pants. Most bridal shops, I fear, are a bit behind the times and may not have much to offer.

Your mother may want to go to a nice department store (one that has a personal shopper) and ask someone to help her with a nice outfit for a "special occasion" and specify pants. I have a feeling, if she stays away from the phrase "Mother of the Bride," she may be given quite a few beautiful choices.

Kudos to you. It's great that you want your mom to be happy and comfortable on your wedding day. Good for you!

My MIL wore a pantsuit she found at Nordstrom. Dresses just aren't her style - she looked fabulous and very much herself.

My mom is wearing a beautiful pantsuit from Macy's - she never wears skirts, and I think it would be weird to see her in one! I told my future MIL and she said, "oh, I'm so relieved, now I can wear a pantsuit too." I think you are exactly right that the priority should be your mom's comfort!

My FSIL already asked if she could wear dressy capris and a very nice beaded blouse which I had no problem with. My future mother in law was considering a pantsuit and ended up finding a long dress she was happy with. I would lean towards the whatever makes your guests more comfortable over what is tradiationally worn is the way to go.

I've seen some very nice pantsuits at Nordstroms, Macy's and Lord and Taylor lately.
