after all the drama she has caused as o late about not coming to the wedding she asked if she could attend because she broke off her emgagemnet with new guy (big surprise) i was okay with her attending though. then she proceded to tell me she would come in jeans and a t- shirt since there would be nothing else that would fit. excuse me? im a larger size than she is...

I offered to buy her a new outfit for the day of since she "lost" the last dress when she moved, but she proceded to tell me she would look like a small blimp in anything id pick out. i told her to pick it out then she proceded to tell me she has no shoes to wear and that shell probably gain another 40 pounds of fluid before the wedding and dont worry about purchasing more food cause she will probably have a heart attack and die before that day. I asked her if she would like a special seat then and she had a come back for that....

i really dont know why i bother talking to this woman. i mean its not like she even raised me... i lived with her a year when i was adopted at 16 then she kicked me out... i really shouldnt expect her to turn a new leaf but i fall for it everytime. gullible.

How do you not laugh at this? She sounds special. Tell her you hope she doesn't die, let her show up in what she wants, and move on. Just treat her like any other (crazy) guest.

i'm sorry your mom is giving you so much grief!

it sounds like she's extremely insecure about her weight and her self image which is a shame because it sounds like she's taking it out on you

i'm sure it would be nice to have her at the wedding, because despite y'alls past she's still your mom. i guess the only thing i can say is that even if she shows up wearing jeans and a tshirt people won't assume you're at fault, they'll just be like, "i can't believe she showed up to her daughter's wedding in jeans and a tshirt"

only a month left until you can breathe again! haha :-P

I had the hardest time getting her to pick a dress because she wasn't happy with her weight, then she decided at the one month mark, to start dieting... DUH! Who knows, she might surprise you and show up in something great, if not, expect the worst and you won't be let down at least :) </div>

Our dear friend who passed away in Augusts' mother shows very similar behavior to your mother. It's extraordinarily frustrating to deal with because part of you feels guilty and part of you wants to avoid her forever.

FI and I came to the tough decision that we are not going to have her attend the wedding because she is going to ruin the day for a lot of people if she is there.

I am sorry you are dealing with this, it's very hard and no one truly understands until they deal with it themselves.

I think you have done all you can as far as her day of outfit goes... her showing up in jeans and a t-shirt reflects her not you, but I can understand your frustrations.
