VENT: Post office

I almost committed a federal offense and punched a postal worker.  I don't know why I'm feeling so violent lately.  Could be pms and the fact that I'm over this wedding planning.  Anyways, went to mail my invites out today.  Had stamps and all ready to go.  She weighs and with her nose stuck up so fair in the air if it would rain she would drown, she says, "I'm sorry you're at 1.1 ounces so you will have to use another stamp."  Are you FREAKING kidding me.  If I took off the two stamps I had used for the envelope and RSVP's I would have probably been at 1 ounce.  I could A get an ugly 20 cent stamp of George Washington or b buy another 45 cent stamp.  Seriously, it's going to cost 20 cents more just for a tenth of an ounce.  That adds up when you have a lot of envelopes.  I just told her I would come back later tomorrow and figure out what I wanted to do.  So mom said she would take care of it.  I'm fine with paying more for that tenth of an ounce but seriously I shouldn't have to pay 20 cents more a stamp.  There has to be another way.  Or maybe I will tell mom to make them weigh it without the stamps and and try it again.  SERIOUSLY people!

Re: VENT: Post office

  • I had to do the same thing. I had them weighed and had the right postage on it, but since there was a ribbon with a little bump, I need $0.20 more for 'special handling.' I wasn't happy, but to be honest, I've never noticed the stamps that come on invitations I get, so even though it seems like a big deal, it really isn't... Take a deep breath, and then put the $0.20 Georgie on there, since you certainly don't want to have them get returned to you!

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • I know how you feel I had the same thing happen to me I had to add the ugly .20 cent stamp too. I had 200 invites.

  • I had to do that with our RSVP cards - we did postcard style and postage was going up on 1/20... after we sent them out, but well before anyone would have them back. They didn't have the new stamps yet, so I had to use one regular postcard stamp (with stupid herbs on it) and one 3 cent stamp (with a giant red, white and blue star).

I was worried it was going to look stupid, but everyone told me to ignore it because no one looks at the stamps. Plus they were on the card coming back to us, so it's not like it's something they were keeping anyway.
