Help with HM :(

So, FI is saying he doesn't want to go to Cozumel, Mexico anymore and wants to do something in the states. (Really frustrating, I am about to kill him!) He may change his mind back to Mexico, but we will see. We need to get this booked soon and it really isn't fun anymore. He is driving me nuts! :(

I was looking into places in CA and FL. I like Monterey/Carmel, CA and Sarasota, FL may be an option. We would like to rent a house while there. Anyone know these two areas?

Las Vegas is an option also. Their prices went way down from when I looked last. We want to HM for a week and we have heard Vegas would get boring. Any opinions?

Any other ideas for places to go?

Re: Help with HM :(

  • I think Las Vegas would get old after a week as well unless you got a room at a resort.....or at a hotel with a really cool pool.  Then it would be similar to going to any resort with a nice room/pool where you two can hang out.

My FI and I had a great time in Colorado, but we did a lot of sightseeing there...not sure if you are looking for a relaxing HM or want to do a bit of travelling while on vaca.  Good luck!

  • Hmm what about something like the Outer Banks of NC?  My mom got a bunch of travel brochures from there recently and it looks beautiful, plus it should be good weather in mid summer!

What did you do in CO? We are in MT so it wouldn't be too far. FI is actually really into hiking and such. We are lazy but would like stuff to do if the mood strikes.

I will look into that area. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

ETA: What areas was she looking at? The flights aren't too bad, $1,200 for both of us.

The flights are too expensive. ($1,700 round trip total.) Poo! It looked so pretty, too! :(

  • The Oregon coast is beautiful in the summer an there is more than enough to keep you occupied for a week. I wouldnt suggest Vegas....not particularly romantic and you would get owed in a week. Carmel is beautiful.....would be a nice relaxing week. Did you ever think of possibly a short cruise out of Florida??

It's not the States, but what about Vancouver? That was high on our list and I hear it's gorgeous. ETA: if you and your FI are into wines, Napa Valley would be gorgeous.

  • I would love to go to to CA! I think a honeymoon there would be gorgeous. But I definitely think Vegas would get boring after a while

Seriously?! We were considering going there for spring break but changed our mind. I looked at tickets out of curiosity and they were nowhere near that. I'm flying to Miami two weeks later and my tickets under $500
  • I love Charleston and Hilton Head, SC. And Savannah is very close to HHI for a day trip!  I also really loved Arizona and San Diego.

I've only been to Las Vegas for News Years. We stayed a week the first time and 5 days last month.  5 days was the perfect amount of time. There are so many shows out there, at different times, and you could go to the pool during the day. The nights can get repetitive with a show, dinner, and gambling. I would definitely plan some excursions for the day! We did a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon and it was amazing!

Driving the Oregon coast and visiting the various lighthouses and the small coastal towns are a lot of fun. You could also had Northern California and visit the Redwood trees. There is enough between the two to keep you occupied.

  • I've been to Sarasota, FL. The beaches are REALLY nice. And you can find some nice beach houses, but you might need to rent a car there as things are a bit more spread out depending on where you stay :)
Good luck! Hopefully you can decide on something soon.
