Paper RSVP vs. online RSVP

Tasha's post got me thinking...are most of you doing paper or online RSVPs? I was just going to do paper but then started over thinking ;)

We're doing paper. Most of our families aren't tech savvy so I pictured it creating a lot of problems. We're also hosting other weekend events so one paper RSVP card was the easiest way to get all of the info we needed from our guests.

  • We are doing paper.  I think it is more traditional (and my mother is all about the tradition for my wedding) plus then I have tangible copies of everyone's responses which will help my OCD. :)

  • I'm doing paper RSVPs.  FMIL already gave me a bit of an eye roll for wanting to include the woman's first name on the STD envelope (e.g. Jane and Jon Doe rather than Mr. and Mrs. Jon Doe).  I can't imagine what she would think if I told her I was doing online RSVP's!  ;)

  • Paper. I feel like people would forget or not RSVP at all. I like having something tangible as well. I would rather only give them one option...paper.
  • My answer's obvious... no paper over here.

Etiquette tells me not to go tech savvy... my stress level and "circle" tells me that if I send them a paper anything they'll not know what to do with it.

    I'll pass, lol

  • It's easier for ppl to drop a pre-stamped envelope/postcard in the mail than for them to remember to get on the computer, go to the site, etc. And as a pp said, we have some less tech savy folks on our list also.

I agree... but for some reason people wont do it. Even I'm guilty of forgetting to put the thing in the mail for weeks and then at the last minute trying to get it there and it gets lost. :-/

ETA: Most of the people on my guest list also classify as "nosey" and will immediately get on the website to see it. My HOPE is that they'll immediately RSVP while they are there. I've thought this thing through long and hard, LOL

  • We're doing both- Paper will be there for those that are traditional or uncomfortable with the internet, but we'll also have a page on the website, too.

  • We're doing both.. well 3 actually. Sending the reply  card, email addresses and phone number.

My mom was talking about this the other day LOL; she does the same thing. I figure there will be some ppl we'll have to call/hunt down, but I like having a tangible rsvp in my hand. The internet can be weird at the most inopportune times.

  • We are doing online, but we have also included a phone number. Alot of our family is tech savy except for my great grandma and a few of the great aunts and uncle's but they like to talk on the phone. I don't need more paper coming back to me. lol. I know the etiquette board will be all over us but I just think it's easier.

  • I know for sure of several people if I sent a invitation saying to RSVP online they would not do it. Mostly because they have no clue of how to use a computer. Some don't even own a computer. I think it would just be easier for my guests to make a check mark, write their name and drop it in the mail. I wanted to do online but once I truely thought about it then I changed my mind.
  • Paper...I like the more traditional approach and I also love getting mail.

  • paper...but are leavint he page on the website so people can rvsp through there, but i dont really expect anyone to.

  • We're doing paper.  I think if you have online RSVPs, you have to have a telephone option too for the less tech saavy.  I HATE talking on the phone, so I'd pay twice over what I spend on RSVP cards/postage just not to have to field all those phone calls/voice messages =]

<div>Ditto this. I'm hoping the tech savvy people will RSVP faster. In fact, I had a few people RSVP after getting the Save the Dates! :)</div>

This!  A friend who is a webpage designer is creating a special website for RSVPing.  It will ahve 3 tabs... 1 that will include wedding information, 1 for RSVPing, and 1 for song requests.  We are also sending paper RSVPs with envelopes that people can use if they prefer.
