How do you find...

How does one go about finding a solo musician? I'm looking to hire an acoustic guitarist and dont know where to start.

  • Try GigMasters.com
I used them to hire a guitarrist for our cocktail hour and he was AMAZING, the price was great as well. 100% recommend the site.
    I used May Barreto, fyi.

Also check with the music departments at the colleges, sometimes they have lists of students (current and former) who play specific instruments and are available for solo gigs. Plus if they're a current student, they will probably charge a bit less than someone who relies wholly on performances to make a living.

I'll second LaMaFa's suggestion! It's something I have been contemplating since I would like to have a guitarist at our cocktail hour.

    Also, check out craig's list!
  • I'm using someone that my DOC recommended. His name is Guille and for our ceremony he's charging $100 for about 10 songs.  Let me know if you want his contact info.

  • I would love his information. Just sent you a PM. Im checking local ads for people who offer lessons and Im not getting call backs. When you search gigmasters how do you know if they play your style of music?

  • When I used GigMasters, I submitted a request as opposed to searching musicians one by one. That way, I specified what I wanted/needed and whoever qualified responded to my "ad"....hope that helps...
