Thoughts on Jinny's Bridal?

So I searched (albeit only once) on this board and didn't find anything about Jinny's on here.  They are located in Costa Mesa.  I called La Soie in Torrance and the associate there told me that Jinny's has very good price points.  (I was scheduled for Brides of CA and they closed up shop so I was going to reschedule at La Soie and they have nothing at a $500 pricepoint, hence the recommendation.)  However, the reviews I read were either high praise or OMG this place is hell on earth.

Anyone here have experience with them?  Honestly, I'll deal with poor service to save a few hundred dollars but I won't deal with HORRIFIC service.

Thoughts?  I'm coming out of Long Beach so I am good with an LA shop or an OC shop.

I have been to Jinny's before.  Just to look around--I didn't buy a dress so I can't speak to that end of it.  I thought they had a nice selection and a friendly staff. They also had an alterations person there when I was looking around but I'm sure most shops have that.

I actually found my dress at jinny's but didn't buy it from them. From the bad reviews, the fact that they refused to let me know the designer to the pushy attitude I decided to order my dress from paradise bridal instead. I found the dress designer and style number cause they list the designers on their site so I did some good old fashion research to find it on the Internet and ordered it elsewhere - if they werent so sneaky I probably would have ordered from them...

I was referred to Jinny's so I made an appointment and wished I hadn’t. My consultant was so rude and unprofessional. Every time she took me in the room to change she would complain about my soon to be mother in law trying to take charge. She also kept calling me "baby girl". Needless to say, after trying on 3 dresses I left early without fulfilling my appointment slot. In addition the dresses seemed dirty and I didn’t feel comfortable putting them on. The place was a zoo so maybe people are finding great bargains but it wasn’t for me. I received better service at the David’s Bridal in Costa Mesa. Hope this helps!

Oh no!  This freaks me out.

My appointment is the day of the Maggie Sottero trunk show so I am now especially concerned about zooness.

However, at 38, I am pretty damn sure that no woman would call me baby girl so I got that going for me.

I just don't know what to do.  I guess I can just go and if it sucks we can leave, go to lunch and have some cocktails and I can book an appointment the following weekend somewhere else.  I wonder why they would hide the designer....

I had a positive experience at Jinny's.  Regardless, if Jinny's seems to be in your price point, then I recommend giving them a chance.  Just like some stores with poor review might give someone great service, some stores with great reviews might give someone poor service (I had the latter experience at a store).  It's really about each bride's experience.  If you feel like you're not having the time of your life, then it's time to go.  But if you feel like you are, then enjoy it and stay.

Although I didn't buy my dress at Jinny's (the didn't have a sample of it), they did carry my second and third favorite dresses.  So I had not found my dress, I would have bought one from Jinny's.  They have a large selection in a variety of sizes.  My salesperson was very friendly and energetic.  She knew when I didn't like a dress and we would just move on.  I did notice that they use their own item numbers instead of the style numbers that the designers use.

Also, they are located in Huntington Beach and not Costa Mesa.

Whatever you decide, best of luck and I hope you have a great time shopping for your dress!

HB/Costa Mesa....eh, it's all behind the Orange Curtain and the same to me.  I have the address in my meeting note so I'll be sure to fine it....

Thanks for the feedback.  I'll keep the appointment and see how it goes.  I am not shopping for any particular designer but rather specifici style(s) so this may work out for me.

    thanks again.

I'm actually going there tomorrow myself, so hopefully it goes well.  A few weeks ago I went to Ferndales and Marry Me Bridal in Orange, and I had overall positive experiences.  I would especially recommend Marry Me- Susan (I think) helped me and she was wonderful!  My price point was $1000 and the dresses I tried on looked like they were worth more.  They had more affordable options and sale dresse too, so I bet you could find something nice there.  Ferndales wasn't quite as nice, but perfectly fine.  They also had some dresses at affordable proces and the gal I worked with was really nice.  Not as expereinced as Susan, but very helpful.  Good luck!

I bought a BM dress for an even  there, I can't remember which designer but I saw the same one for about 3 times the price when I was at another Bridal Salon looking for another dress 2 weeks later ( Aug was the months of Weddings for us).
I was actually very impressed by Jinny's. The reviews scared me but I needed a dress that day I bought my wedding dress at Mon Amie and my BM's got their dresses at Saks, but Jinny's had just as high if not better customer service than those 2 stores.  I don't think you have anything to worry about.

When it came to helping me find the perfect dress, they were great.  Very honest and supportive.  Then when they measured me to order the dress, she sized me as a 14.  I've never worn a 14 in my entire life.  She said it's because European sizes run much smaller.  She said, "Unless you plan on losing 2 inches in the waist, then you wear a size 14."  When I got my dress it was falling down to my hips.  I wanted to DIE!! They did nothing about their obvious error except gave me a phone number to their seamstress.  I felt totally used.  When I finally took it to my own different seamstress, she had to take my dress in TEN INCHES!  It completely altered the structure of the dress and the seamstress handed me a pile of beads she had to pull off... And no, I didn't lose 5 sizes before my wedding; I lost about 7 pounds total.

My sister was recently married, and got her dress at Jinny's. The dress was beautiful and she looked amazing in it. However, our experlience at Jinny's was terrible. They were very accomodating when she was looking for dresses, but as soon as she decided on that dress and ordered it, their customer service went out the window. They were clearly more concerned with getting her money than with providing her with excellent service or an enjoyable wedding experience. Myself and our other sister live out of state and weren't able to participate in shopping for the wedding dress. Once the bride had picked it out, we wanted to see what it looked like. The staff at Jinny's refused to tell her the dress style number so that we could look it up online. Once the dress came in, she had the alterations done, and made an appointment to pick it up a few days before the wedding. When she got there, they could'nt find the dress (they had put it under the wrong  name), and it wasn't ready. My sister just about lost it- it was a few days before her wedding, she was already stressed out, and now the dress wasn't ready. When she told the staff member that she had an appointment to pick it up, they made some excuse. My sister asked if they would refund some of  the cost of the alterations due to the mix up, and they said "We didn't charge you enough anyway".  They did (thankfully) agree to drive the dress out to my parents house that night, but when it arrived, there were black marks on the skirt that the owner had to remove before we would let my sister see it. When we asked again if they would comp some of the fee, the owner got really angry and proceeded to  lecture me and my mom about "that's what's wrong with this generation, everyone thinks they are entitled to something..." Well, when we are paying for a service, I certaintly think we ARE entitled to having it done right. It was unprofessional and appalling to see her treatment of a bride and the bride's family two day before the wedding, when it was their mistake to begin with. For a company that is in the wedding business, we found them to provide exceptionally poor service and I would  NOT recommend this business to anyone who wishes to remain sane the week of a wedding.
