Struggling!

Hello everyone! I am new to this website and am getting married in June.  Right now I am out of state, going to school, so I am having to do a lot of my planning from a distance! My family and fiance are back in Arizona, and I am trying to balance planning a wedding with my studies.  I am on a tight budget too (6,000-7,000), and am not quite sure what good prices for things run!

If you know of a great band for a good price, inexpensive invitations (for 200-250 invites), flowers, etc...basically everything that goes into a wedding, please let me know! You don't how much your help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hello and welcome!  First off, do not stress out, you will be fine!  I am planning from another state too, and while not ideal it has worked out just fine!  As for staying on a budget, I recommend looking at NillaWafers bio.  A few posts down she has a poll, if you open that post you will be able to click on her bio.  She actually broke down her budget in there and gave tips on how she stayed on budget.  I think that will really help you and get you started.

I personally saved a lot of money by making my own invitations.  I found a designer on Etsy.com who designed them for me and sent them to me in a pdf, I then ordered the materials from cardsandpockets.com and assembled them.  I spent about $350-400 after all was said and done, postage included, instead of $1500 like I was quoted for the same pocket folds.  Info on this is in my bio.  You can also do your own flowers and ceterpieces.  You can get great flowers from places like Costco and arrange them yourself.

Welcome to the board! Everyone is absolutely fabulous here on the board.  Everyone has lots of great vendor recommendations, so never be afraid to ask for advice.  I started my planning in AZ, but I recently moved to NC.  I am just getting a taste of the frustrations of long distance planning, so I can appreciate the difficulties.

It's really great that you are establishing your budget early on.  I have tried to make the most of my budget.  It's been frustrating at times, but I'm glad that I'm no getting into debt.

Do you know the size of your guest list yet?  I noticed you said around 200 invites. Is that 200 people or closer to 400 people? Also do you have a vision for your big day?

Congratulations! I can't wait to plan together!

First off thank you both for your help!  When I saw your reply and looked at your budget, ideas, etc.. I was just like yes I can do this! I am getting married June 12, so it’s definitely coming up! I am thinking of doing a mix between classic and anthropology esq vintage look.  What are you both doing for themes and for centerpieces?  Oh and I am more sticking to the 200-250 invites.

I did tons and tons of research on my vendors before picking anyone (well except my DJ) so I have lots of price ranges for various vendors if you would like this information. PM me or reply on here with your email and I can send you a quick run down of who I met with/recommend talking to and some price ranges I found for various items.

Just try to stay calm about everything and don't let the wedding stress get to you. Anyything can be done if you take strides to accomplishing it. The girls here are great and super helpful - plus we are really good at listening to venting.

Congrats on getting engaged and happy planning. Can't wait to see what you plan!
