Russell's Tuxedo's

I went to Russell's today to go dress shopping, and totally loved it there.  I was wondering if anyone used their Tux shop.  Only one of the groomsmen is from the area.  Everyone else is from South NJ or Philly.  I was wondering if anyone used them for tuxes and how it worked for the out of town guys.  Otherwise, I guess I will need to look into a chain store that the guys can go to in their area.  TIA for your help!

I haven't used Russels, so Im not that much of a help.  However, I just wanted to tell you that if you wanted to use this place, your GM just have to get measured and send in the measurements (just like you would for a BM).  So you dont have to use a chain store if you dont want to.

Russell's isn't near where my wedding is taking place.  How would the guys pick up their tuxes?  Is it fair to ask the one groomsman who lives in the area to pick them up and bring them down to the hotel where everyone is staying?

My FI was in several weddings this past year, and one guy used a place that was little out of the way because a GM had a connection there. That GM offered to pick up and return all the tuxes. If he has to go and get his own it wouldn't be a bad idea. I would just recommend he check and make sure everything is in each bag. We are using Russell's.

We will be using Russell's Tux shop as well.  I am getting all of my BM dresses there too.

I would not suggest doing that. For our wedding, and for any wedding that DH has been a groomsman in, the tux always needed to be altered in some way. For example, his pants were 1 1/2 inches too long, my dad's vest was missing a button and his tux sleeves were too long. So if someone picks them up for everybody and brings them to the hotel, there is a very good chance that they all won't fit right and they will be in trouble.
While it is true that they can get measured anywhere and you can order them from one store, I would strongly suggest that they all go to pick them up themselves so they can try them on and get them altered if needed. If they can't do that, then I would suggest using a chain store, and I'd definitely recommend Dante Zeller. Stay away from Men's Warehouse.

I'm using Russell's for my gown, my mom's dress, BM dresses and tuxes.  The tux shop has been taking the guys measurements by phone but they will need to go there the week of the wedding to try on and have any adjustments made.  One thing to keep in mind, if you use Russell's for your BM dresses you will only get free alterations fot the girls if you rent their tuxes.  That wasn't made clear to me at first and although it has worked out, I didn't like having my hands tied.

I agree with this.  Dont have someone pick them up.  When the GM get into town (probably a day or two ahead of time) they can go and pick up the tux then.  That is what my FI has done for any wedding he has been in.  It works out just fine.

How are the tux rental prices? I'm getting my dress and bm dresses there and I would like to get the tux's there as well, might as well save the girls the alterations expense if I could...

We are getting our groomsmen tuxes from there, the reason we went with Russell's is they had a great selection of brown tuxedos compared to other places we checked out.  Most other places the brown tuxedos were kind of 70s-ish, but at Russell's they had several choices and they were more stylish.

That said, when we originally spoke with the salesman there, they told us they offer a pick-up service where they can pick up all the tuxedos the day after the event, as long as they are in one location.  Since we are somewhat far from Russell's, we asked them if they would still do that for our location, and they said yes.  Later, when I went back with one of the groomsmen for him to get measured, they said they weren't sure they were going to be able to offer that considering the pick-up location.  I was kind of dissapointed because that had been a selling point for the store, however it is still not resolved.  Which reminds me to tell my fiance to call them about that!
