Nevada-Las Vegas

Imperial Palace?

Has anyone ever stayed there? Never been there and the prices are pretty decent.

Thanks!

I've never stayed in a room but I have used their sportsbook and I don't think I would stay in a room there.

Check the Golden Nugget downtown for rates.  The rooms are VERY nice and the prices are usually pretty decent.

Smokey-Thanks for your response! what turned you off of the place?

I love the Golden Nugget, but I'm looking at price and location. The Imperial Palace is closer to the Paris (ceremony venue). Just exploring options, since the Paris seems out of our price range for the given amount of days we'd like to stay there.

It seemed old school without being cool (like DT) and just a little run down and tired.  I think there are so many better options for you.

Have you checked the Monte Carlo, Bally's or the Flamingo (don't stay in the lower level, stay in the towers)? Those usually have decent rates.

You say the "amount of days" you want to stay.  You should really stay someplace that you will enjoy if you stay more than a couple nights even if it costs more.  Staying in an old run down room for 3 or more nights is a bit much, IMO.

Thanks! This is great feedback!  Bally's and Flamingo are also on the list, but Imperial Palace was the property I knew the least about.

I don't know anything about it other than I have run in for the sports book because I didn't know of anyone else that would take the kind of futures best I needed to make.  It was kind of cheesy in a Riviera/Sahara kind of way.  Just a little run down.  I don't know when their last reno was.

I've stayed at IP and Flamingo, and the Flamingo's rooms are better than IP. Like the previous poster said, the rooms are run down, and I always have an eerie feeling walking to my room. Don't get my wrong, I love to gamble at the IP but not stay there.

Most of our wedding party stayed at IP for our wedding. They were hardly ever in the rooms and decided to stay somewhere cheap. It's a great location, central strip but they all said the what the PPs said, the rooms are run down and old. One guy said he's stayed at nicer Motel 6s than IP.  I do agree about gambling there though, we all won there more than anywhere else :p

Ive only been in IP once. We had free tickets to their Auto Collection Museum thingy. It was run down and the elevator was ridiculus...it was SOO loud and sounded like it was going to break, literally. Sign up for the hotel promotions at all the casinos on the strip....I got a great deal for our bridal party at MGM...costed about the same as a regular night at IP. HTH!!

I love gambling at the IP but I wouldn't stay there unless I had no other choice. Or If I needed to be in the middle of the strip for super cheap. Were getting married at the Venetian and the IP is next door. I know one couple that is staying there. They just can't afford anything else and its right next door to us. I would not hesitate suggesting it to people that don't care about their room, need a central location and/or don't want to spend a bunch of money.

I stayed there about 5 yrs ago....It was a "let's go to vegas and stay somewhere cheap" trip....It was "ok" but I would not stay there again.  Rooms so-so...very Motel 6 like....which is fine normally but when I'm in Vegas I want something a little nicer than that.  The hallways were creepy and dark.  I think there are better "cheap" deals that to stay here.
One positive note is that our room was VERY clean.

Location wise: it's great especially if you'll just be walking around on the strip. It's pretty much right in the middle. Although, it is hard to find, cus it's so small and I hate their parking area. It's a very small and old hotel, although it is clean. Not the nicest hotel out there, but they the prices are pretty cheap. So it you won't be staying in your room all day and just sleeping there, then it's a great deal.

I had IP in mind when I warned my mom not to use Priceline to book a hotel, lest she wind up someplace horribly sketchy.  She ended up staying at South Pointe and enjoyed it.  You can also get really good rates at most of the downtown hotels.

It's not a place to stay very long at or if you're there to celebrate. We stayed there over the 4th of July because it was a last minute trip and they gave us free rooms...plus we were not in the room much;) I'd go for the Flamingo or the newer rooms over at Harrah's. We've got a few people staying there for our wedding but I think it's because they've never been to Vegas & don't plan to spend a lot of time in their room.  It was clean but like the other poster said a little sketchy.
