Vendor Advice

So... Last weekend we met with a caterer that we really liked, and they seem like they will fit our budget.  We created a potential menu & they were going to use it to create a bid for us.  If we like it, we have a contract ready to go to send to them to reserve our date.  That was Saturday, and I haven't gotten anything from them (they are sending it via email).  At what point do I start bothering them?  Now?  I really want to nail this thing down, I'm running out of time here!  Should I send them an email letting them know I haven't received anything yet?

Additionally, the DJ we just found out we can use, said he'd email us the contract package the following day (Wednesday), and I haven't received anything from HIM either.  I have been getting other emails, so I don't think there's something wrong with my gmail.  I did send him an email this morning, asking if the contract had gotten lost in cyberspace, since he gave me an actual date that he'd send it.  No word yet.
Wtf?  How long do I wait on these people?

Maybe you should try calling one of them since you are having problems (possibly) with your email?

I would contact caterer ASAP before they close the office for the weekend. Five office/business days they should have it to you. Doesn't hurt to make the contact. I would give them until next week at least.

Yeah, this is very annoying w/ vendors.  I had this happen last week and resent emails after a week w/ no response and got immediate responses, so I think my email was having issues.  Have you checked your junk email?  If its not there, either send emails or call.

This is so crazy -- you would think they'd want the business!
I say it's a bad omen for them being easy to work with in the future. I would contact someone else and see how they handle it.

Ditto Jennuine - I had that happen with our DJ.  He and I had emailed back and forth with the same addys a couple times and one of his replies I was waiting for somehow ended up filtered into my spam box.  I say with vendors give them the benefit of the doubt the first time, just in case.  And I would definitely call if possible.  I personally give vendors about 3-5 business days to respond.  I also take into account a lot of them work Tues-Sun/Wed-Sun or something along those lines.

Thanks for the advice!  I just checked this morning & had my quote from the caterer!  And, based on the menu we created, it is really affordable.  I think you all will be seeing a big "check" soon!
The DJ (who I did email to see if his contract had gotten lost in the interwebz) has not emailed me back yet.  Nor was anything sent to junk mail... grrrrrr.

I always say "CALL".  If they don't answer, leave a message and if they "forgot" they will remember from your phone call.  Emails do get lost though too.

I generally give ppl no more than 2 emails before I call.  And about a week in time.  If they respond then, I wouldn't worry.  If they do ... maybe look elsewhere.
