What are you basing your gratuity on?
Your total price of using the facility, renting items (the china, flatware, etc) and food? Or just the food only like you would in a restaurant?
I feel like my venue has charged me for every item per person, a large amount to rent the place, sales tax, $125-185 per person working (for 4 hours) and a "facility tax". Then they gave us suggested gratuity prices which I feel like are a very large amounts that do not seem realistic to me. I also feel like I shouldn't decide gratuity until AFTER I have the wedding as anything could go wrong. I have no idea how to approach this and I was hoping maybe someone on here would have a suggestion. I know gratuity is necessary but I feel like I'm already paying a higher amount than other places. I don't want to seem cheap but I also don't want to feel like I'm being scammed! Thank you!
