Favor Ideas

Hello all,
what is everyone giving for favors? I have 275 people so it is getting super expensive. Not to mention most of the favors I have gotten in the past have gone directly in the trask or never even left the wedding with me!

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Ditto on the edible! We're doing chocolates from a company that's local to where my parents live. One website I love is http://www.jucsuckers.com/ShowShapes.php?cat=12 . I saw it in Martha a couple of issues ago and I loved her idea of using lollipops with your initials as the favor or you could even do one lollipop with your new married last name initial.

We are thinking about doing dark chocolate covered pretzels in cellophane bags tied with ribbon that says "Courtney and Todd tie the Knot 6.18.10".

we decided to go with edible too - mainly bc the guest list is about your size..we are doing a candy buffet and this cool soda bar idea..

Love the lollipops!

We're also thinking edible. First choice is a piece of fruit (pomegranate, mango or even pears); second choice is chocolate lobster pops.

edible is always good. (we're going ornaments and candy legos) you can always do a donation also and leave a sign that a donation was made. You can do 1 big one, or smallers one per table.

Just to put this out there, no one expects favors and they are certainly not a requirement of any wedding. If you are pressed for the cash, or prefer to throw it elsewhere for your guests like to the bar or a dinner upgrade, I am sure they would appreciate that much more. If you want to do favors than awesome, but sometimes I see brides get very caught up in worrying about favors when they are far from a requirement and far from something you need to be spending money on if things are tight.

I am doing a candy buffet, but it can be pretty expensive. The only reason I am able to afford it, is because I borrowed all the jars and scoops from my friend that got married this past August.

You make a really good point, Meaghan. I was all set on not doing favors, but the 'rents are insistent on them. They're paying for them, so they can do what they want. lol

If someone is says that you "need" favors, they can pay for them!

I second the candy buffet idea. We spent around $3 pp and it was a huge hit.

I did a white clay starfish ornament and I tied the seating cards to them.So it was a two for one. :-) There's a lady on the cape that makes them and stamps your name, date and location on the back. I also love the lobster lollipops that would have been my next choice.

You don't need to do them, but if you do, edible is a hit, and i was at a wedding where the B & G gave scratch lottery tickets. That was a very cute idea (they had something like Lucky in Love on the bag I think).

Thanks for the ideas. I was actually thinking of making minature Greek cookies and wrapping them in cello bags. I am Greek and I thought it would be a nice touch.

I am getting married at Tewksbury Country Club. Also, any grand ballroom at a hotel will fit 300+ guests.

Ditto to all the PP's on the edible. If I can't eat it, it usually doesn't come home with me! Agree with Meaghan as well. We didn't have a "set" favor, rather, we had many things going on at our wedding that people could take home with them - photobooth (they got to keep half the strip, the other half went in our guestbook), cigar roller, and a candy buffet.

ditto Meaghan--we didn't do favors. Apparently they are not traditional in Jewish weddings anyway. Out of town guests (and most of our guests were from OOT) got gift bags with lots of goodies at their hotels, and local folks got to take home the centerpieces (there was a suprlus). Kids got coloring books and crayons. Men kept their lovely knit kippah in our wedding colors. And some souvernir-inclined folks kept their programs. I felt there were plenty of rememberances for those who wanted them.
