We're thinking about going to Croatia for our honeymoon in December. Does anyone know if this would be a horrible time of year to go? We're not beach people, so the colder weather wouldn't be bad, but all I've read is about the beaches. What is there to do in the winter?
We're huge history and art dorks and really like eating, if that helps.
Re: Croatia?
We have been in March and July, and actually didn't go to the beach either time. There is definitely a lot to do besides the beach. I agree with PP about Dubrovnik. You can walk the walls in the old city and there is a lot of shopping, too. The food is excellent. It's a mix between Mediterranean (lots of fish) and Italian (lots of pizza and pasta).
I would definitely consider going even in December, but do a little research. I think the downside to going in December is that a lot of the ferries that take you to the smaller islands and over to Venice will not be running at that time of year.
[QUOTE]Excellent! Thanks. We're debating between there, Granada, and Rome but I really want to go some place that I haven't been yet.

Yeah, I think that is the way to go for a HM. It makes it more of an adventure if you don't already know the place. Good luck with your planning!
