Gift table?

How are you all handling your gift table?  Do you need a sign indicating that is what the table i s for?  It seems a bit tacky to make a sign that says "Gift Table," but I'm not sure how to indicate that's what it is to the first arrivers...

Thoughts?  What am I missing?

Re: Gift table?

  • We are putting our guest book on one end of it, otherwise, I am sure guests will figure it out. We also have a burlap banner/bunting that we made this past weekend that will hang on the front which simply reads "Thank You". I am hoping that is enough.

  • Another option is just having your guest book attendant take gifts from guests to put on the table.

  • The venue we are using is providing a card box, but I think it is more like a bird cage if I remember correctly so we will put that on a table and anyone bringing gifts I would think would put it on the table with the card holder?

  • You could always wrap a few empty boxes and leave them on the table.

  • I figure that as an  empty table with our card box and guest book, people will understand what it's there for.

  • We are using a suitcase for our card box, and I made a burlap banner that says cards. I'm just hoping that people figure out if they brought something other than a card that it should be placed on that table...

Like PPs, we have a card box. I think people who bring actual gifts will know to put them on the table that the box is on.

  • We are putting our card box on the table with the guest book.  I think most people have been to a few weddings and know that is where the gifts are supposed to be left.  If not I'm sure they will ask and someone in my BP will direct them in the right direction.

I like this idea.  No need for signs and no worry about guests getting confused.

I like this idea too. I believe the caterer or whoever is directing people will let guests know where to leave their gifts.

Thanks everyone for your input!  I was thinking about wrapping up empty boxes as well--I like that idea!   I think I will do that and put the card box out, and that will be that.

    Thanks again!
