2013 wedding...

has anyone run into a florist saying its too early to start planning or even talking to?

I have booked photographer, vendor dj and havent run into this...Just wondering. I am a planner and like to get the big things out of the way

Re: 2013 wedding...

  • I'm getting married on June 1, 2013, and I already booked the venue, church, photographer, videographer and DJ. The venue actually told me to wait on the floral until I have a better idea of how many tables I'll have for centerpieces, what colors I want, etc. I don't think florists are as in demand as the other big stuff.

  • I don't think it's ever too early to book vendors. :) I booked my florist in August '09 for a June '10 wedding. A lot of the budget friendly florists book up quickly and/or they only do 1 wedding a day.
  • I think once you're within a year of your wedding, you'll find more florists willing to talk to you.  You're 20 months out and your florist would want to give you a ballpark estimate for your vision.  Prices could change drastically in 20 months, but not as much in a year.  Don't be discouraged.  My florist met with me for the first time 9 months before my wedding and then didn't want to talk to me again until 3 weeks before the wedding to finalize the order.  I think it's just the nature of their business.

  • I'm getting married June 1, 2013 and already booked my florist.  She said she was already booking for the fall of 2013 as well.
  • I think as long as you have your venue picked out and saved you're OK to start the rest a year out, unless they're are any vendors who are really popular.

You could always just ask to be penciled in for that date or ask when a good time to call back is.
  • I would start contacting and at least you can get a ballpark figure or find out a time to contact them.

  • This happened to me with one florist when I was just over a year out.  I kept looking and found a great florist who was willing to talk with me and even put together a sample free of charge.  They couldn't believe the other florist turned me away.
  • do you mind if i ask you who you used
