Photographer Interview Advice

I am meeting with a photographer for the first time this week, and I have no idea what to ask!  I know that it's important to meet in person so you make sure the vibe is right, but what are some key things to make sure you ask about?

Thanks!

I had a big list of questions to ask that I compiled using a few different sources.  I found with the photographer that I chose that I had nothing to ask b/c she answered everything over the course of our conversation!

My main concern was what would they do in case of emergency/sickness/etc. for a back-up photographer.  I also asked how they dealt with family members or wedding guests who were trying to intrude on pictures--dictating shots, getting in the way, etc.

Good luck and have fun!  I loved meeting with our photog...we met with one other whom I got a horrible vibe from, so definitely meet in person.

Ask about the digital rights, what their shooting style is (traditional vs photohournalistic), timeline to get finished product, proofing process for albums, backgrounds on their second photographers, recommendation for location shoots.

I would also ask for references.  Good luck!

Ditto what pp's mention. I loved meeting with photographers--it was what I was looking forward to the most! I would meet with at least 2-3 before you make a decision.

i asked if we could see one whole wedding...not just the album, which was obviously the greatest hits, but the all the shots from the day so we could get a feel for what she would capture.

Some things I never saw on the list of what to ask that were important (to me anyways).............

how long does it take to ge the pics
can we have three references including one from a wedding planner who has worked with him
what if the wedding runs overtime and is there a charge?
what are the extra costs such as gratuity and sales tax?
what if we don't like our pics?
