migraine help

So years ago I had issues with migrains, I had medication, but they had basically gone away (or went down to only one or two a year so I stopped the meds).  Well I don't know if it is the stress of the wedding or what but they are back with a vengence and they are horrible.  It is hard to even write this - but I am at work for my last day before a two week vacation for the wedding and don't feel like I can go home early.  Anyone have any good techniques to keep them at bay?  They really hadn't been a problem for so long I don't remeber how I used to deal with this.  I do not want to get one on the wedding day.  I know they are stress related because anytime I get a call from someone with a wedding issue I feel like I start seeing the blue dots within an hour or so, and th other time I had a problem with them was in HS around SAT and applying to college time and that was a huge stresser too.  It's weird cause I actually love planning but I really think thats what is bringing these on.  Sorry this is long and maybe rambling a little - any tips from anyone would be phenominal!

The only thing that helps me is a nice long nap.

I'm so sorry they're back!! UGH. Hang in there!

  • When I think that I might be getting one, I take Excedrine Migraine.  I love that stuff.  I haven't gotten one in a long time though.  I hope this helps.

I am very fortunate that I hardly ever experience headaches even under tremdous amount of stress. However, I have many friends and family who suffer from migraines. I am going to suggest to take magnesium supplemental pills. I'm not sure if you know but many migraine sufferers experience these because of a magnesium deficiency. However, if you have any serious heart or kidney disease or prone to kidney stones then do not take it.

Also, if you are a caffeine drinker then start decreasing your intake. It will help you in the long run. You can incorporate foods rich in magnesium in your diet.

  • Migraines are the worst I feel your pain, I get them too especially when I'm stressed typically work! An when its an aortic migraine I'm useless and need to sleep.

What typically helps me is cold washcloth on my face followed by long nap. Since your unable to really do that I'd say cold water on your face, followed by diming the lights if you can, and definitely steer clear of the computer. It's my own theory but I don't think computers are helping, obviously if your job requires the computer that's hard to do. At this time in the day I hope your feeling better and home.

Also, last I heard about excedrin migraine and all the excedrin pills they were on recall. I went to buy some more last week couldnt find any in target, so definitley check on the internet the recall information if you take excedrin.

  • I have suffered migraines for as long as I can remember. I too get them from stress and Ive tried most everything in the market. I live a much calmer life now a days but when I start seeing the spots I run for my Excedrine Migraine. They are hands down the best. I was also told by my neurologist that daily suppliments of CoQ10 have been recently shown to keep them at bay. Watch you diet, dont eat too much sweets or things with too much caffeine. I was also told cheeses are harmful as well. Try to calm down and dont let things get to you (I know it's difficult to do). In the end nothing is worth a bad migraine. Best of luck!!
