Airbrush Tanning

Soooo......I am planning on getting airbrush tanning done at My Flawless Tan in Kirkland for the wedding. FYI: they have a bridal deal, $60 for two tans, 1 trial, 1 for wedding.

Buttt....I think it's kind of awkward. Has anyone done this? I feel really awkward being nude in front of a stranger who is airbrushing my body......Awkward? How do I get over that? .......I've heard they try to make you feel comfortable...And I know you don't have to be nude, but I think I need to at least have no top on because I can't have tan lines...Anyway, I guess I am just looking for advice on how it is, if you've done it and how you made yourself get over the fact of someone getting up close and personal when your nude?

Could you have a couple of drinks beforehand and have a friend drive you to your appt?  That's the only advice I can think of...Innocent

I've not airbrushed, (did do spray tan Saturday though) but I'd just look at them like I would a doctor or nurse and that's it's "clinical".  I do like Mgoss' idea of the drinks though!  LOL

I've actually done this a few times and I just think of it as being similar to going to a doctor or waxing appointment.  These people do this for a living and see naked bodies all the time so that's the mentality I use.

It's pretty straightforward too, you get undressed, go behind a curtain and the person "paints" you while you're standing there.  They'll tell you to stick a leg or arm out but nothing awkward.  The alternative is to have a machine do it instead, but I never wanted to take the chance of missing a spot or getting streaks since there's no real way to spot check for mistakes.

After trying machine spray tanning this past weekend, I don't think I'd do it again since I did end up with splotches on my feet and ankles (even with putting the lotion on like they said).

I am going to start looking for a place in the South end i.e. Tacoma that does the airbrush.  Kinmir30, your deal sounds great!

I did airbrush at the Bronze Bar in Seattle last week ... and loved the even results.  (So much better than Mystic Tan/spray booths!)

I figured she sees a lot of naked bodies ... some better, some worse, so I tried not to think of it.  I actually got waxed earlier in the day, too ... so got nekkid in front of 2 women I had never met before that day!!!  LOL

I read a bunch of the reviews on Yelp for the airbrush spray tanning and one stuck out to me - I think it was Divine Sunless Tanning.  She comes to your house and does the spray tan in your bathtub.  Then while you are hidden away drying she cleans everything up.  I haven't tried it yet, but have done the booth a bunch for less important events.  And as many times as I've done the booth, I'm always nervous how it will turn out.  Most of the times have been great, but sometime it seems like the versa spa (better than mystic!) solution is mixed differently (darker or lighter).  Just make sure to exfoliate a lot beforehand and do a trial!
