Very New!!

Hey Everyone,
I'm the Maid Of Honor at one of my bff's weddings coming up in March. She wants me to help her with the whole entire thing. Don't really have a specific question, just need tips I guess. :)
-Where to get wedding, dresses, maid of honor dress, brides maide dresses, tuxedos, discounts on flowers, decorations, etc.
Q: Is it odd to have just one color?  I'm trying to convince her to do more than one color.(She wants purple). MAYBE pink somewhere in there.
-Hair tips. Where to get hair done.
Maybe alternatives to flowers.(If it's not within her budget)
-Transportation. Her and her fiance are in wheelchairs.
-Some sort of pre wedding party?
-Suggestions to food. Nothing too extravagant.
I guess those are main worries right now.

I don't think she'll be your typical "Bridezilla". She's pretty plain and simple and easy to please.
Thanks for helping

Mayfair is really great for dresses.  I also like Bella Bridesmaid for dresses.

    Where are they located?Laughing
and is it not safe to shop online for dresses?

There are so many options available. Have they selected a venue or anything? The reason I'm asking is because some places include more than just the rental of the banquet room.

Dresses: I shopped online to get ideas of what I thought I wanted, then I made sure to connect with the consultant when I went to look at dresses. I thought Bridal Connection in Rolling Oaks mall had some nice dresses.

As far a the tuxedos, I'd go with Mens Warehouse. If five people rent them the groom will get his for free.

Is there a theme or anything for the wedding? Does she want a modern or traditional wedding?

Amanda, they are going to have it at their church.
I think she's just getting ideas on what she wanted. she's very plain, so she doesn't want like a $200 dress. I will sure and tell her about Men's Warehouse. I'm not sure how many guys are going to be involved with the wedding.
She's doesn't have a theme. Just purple, purple, purple. would that be too much? add another color? i'm not sure about modern or traditional. i think she's leaning more on the modern side of things.

Purple looks great with charcoal gray. It's a neutral so it'll anchor all that purple!

You can do a couple of shades of purple if she isn't set on a specific shade.  Maybe a rich purple with lilac accents? The charcol would be very pretty too.  I'm specifically thinking of two sets of eye shadow I have, if you look in the cosmetics department at the grocery you will find something similar.  There are usually 2-3 shades of purple and a gray.  Those colors are always pretty together.
Al's formalware usually has the same sort of deals as the Men's Warehouse.  While I like the selection at Men's Warehouse, the last two wedding's I've been in (sister and friend) have had trouble with them.  None of the vests fit the guys in my sister's wedding.  We were told "oh these always run funny in the sizes".  The groom's jacket did not arrive for the friend's wedding.  The got it all sorted out for both weddings on the morning of the wedding, but it was stressful.  I can say they are very good at fixing these issues, but it also made me think they must have a lot of these things come up.  Whereever they go please make sure the guys go as early as they can to pick up the tuxes and be sure they try them on to make sure all the pieces are there (My dad didn't have his bow tie, but they found one in the back for him.) and are the right sizes.
As for transportation, if they are both in wheelchairs you might just ask her how they normally would get around and ask her if she was thinking of something more special or would she be happy just decorating their normal transportation to get to the reception.
There are numerous places online to look for bridesmaids dresses depending on the sizes you need.  A friend recommended JCrew but my girls are plus size and I didn't find anything there that would fit them.  We are going to David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo to look.  As for the bridal gown, make sure she is looking at photos with you.  As a bride one said "the wedding is about US, but the dress is my chance to show ME."  Sometimes even the girls who usually like simple will like something more on this day.
Having helped with lots of weddings, I can tell you that while you are taking on a lot you have to remember that ultimately she needs to make these choices.  If you have to give her three choices and let her decide, do that, but I know it is hard to not treat it like your dream day.  I hope that doesn't sound harsh or uncaring because I mean it with the deepest heart.  I know she will appreciate everything you do to help her.  She is lucky to have such a caring friend and it seems you are lucky to have a friend you care about so much as well.
    Good luck.
