HELP needed to find a wedding venue for $3000 (or less)

My fiance & I are looking for a wedding venue in the bay area or close to the SF bay area. Right now we live in the San Jose/Campbell area, however we are willing to travel for the right location!

My 'google' is sore from all the searching that I have done for a wedding venue to meet our criteria & under $3000 (for both ceremony & reception). Catering must be BYO. Guest list is 300...hence our problem.

I would really appreciate any help or ideas that people have to make our June 2012 wedding be a successful event.

We are open to an outdoor/indoor ceremony/reception... so pretty much open for anything... we just need more options! We are also open to having the ceremony & reception at two different venues, HOWEVER, the combined fees MUST be under $3000....

Again, any help will be greatly appreciated

How about a park? Santa Clara or San Mateo county parks or San Jose city parks could work. You'd need to have a rental company bring in chairs and whatnot, though. I know for the city of San Jose, you need to get a permit to use the park, but it's pretty inexpensive.

can you use a friend/family member's backyard? $3k for 300 peeps is going to be VERY tough! =(

Palo Alto has a lot of community centers and public parks that can be rented for private functions.

One thing to consider is if you use a family yard, tent rental might add about $1200 in case of inclement weather. Have you looked into a CSA farm? My college roommate is getting married in New Mexico at a CSA/lavender farm that does weddings fairly cheaply and I am guessing the trend is going viral as farms try to earn more money in this economy. Worth a shot!

Try Point Marina Vista. It is a little bare, but you can work with it. It includes chairs and tables. I booked it awhile back for 3000, and they said it could fit 300, but under new management, they say 275 ppl. You can also use the outside for ceremony space. Not sure if it still BYO caterer, but it was back in August.

Thank you all for your help, we found a couple of venues only a block apart... unfortunately together they are just over $3000... but they are both amazing sites & we are very happy

That's how I found my venue. Our max capacity (standing) is only 250 and 175 (seated), but it worked out great for us.
