Is this tacky?

I figured I should get other people's opinion on this. FI and I have been trying to find a caterer good at preparing traditional Caribbean meals for our wedding. We've contacted Olympia (no word back) and Delectables (waiting until I get back to Florida to schedule a tasting). I wanted to contact Jerk Hut to see if they can cater the wedding but fiance thinks that it would be very tacky if we hire them to cater the wedding. We both love their food but for some reason he thinks that they won't do a good job at a wedding. (I really don't know where he's getting this from). He also feels that because we eat there the food won't be 'special'. 
But would it really be tacky for them to cater our wedding?

    I don't understand how it's tacky? I mean, I would make sure there was something there every eats of course. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem for them. And anyway if you eat there all the time and you know the food is good you wouldn't be chancing it by hiring a caterer you have never met. Going this route is cheaper as well. The only thing is that if you get it from jerk hut I'm assuming they don't have a true catering department so they don't have servers and banquet captains to do all the work for you so you would need to hire some servers out to do this.

    I went with a regular bbq company and it worked out great. We did it buffet style and everyone loved it. I personally LOVE jerk hut and I would be SO excited to go to a wedding that served this! It's definitely a reflection of the Tampa area and who you guys are as a couple, right? I'd say go for it! :)

    I too think that it would be a GREAT idea for you to use them for catering.  Just check with them first to make sure that they can perform exactly what it is that you are needing for your BIG day!  Way to think outside the box...love it!

    I'm outta town and don't know them, but I'd contact them and ask if they've catered large events before. They've probably done a corporate event or something and have someone in charge of stuff like that. Call and find out!

    I love Jerk Hut too! However, I can see what FI means by tacky if he's thinking they'll just serve it "regularly" you have to help him envision that food + the atmosphere+ china will not equal tacky. I became leery when I asked delectables, and others to price a traditional Jamaican food it was too exotic to them and I felt that was a warning sign.

    Thanks for the responses ladies. I will contact jerk hut soon and find out if they can do what I want. I'll have to explain to FI that we can still have an elegant set up and everything. Hopefully it all works out because I've been so apprehensive in having major catering companies prepare a meal that they are not too familiar with. 
    I've never heard about saffrons catering. Thanks for the suggestion. I will check them out as well.

    My fiance mentioned that he would like Jerk Hut as well.  We love it there!
    Photobucket Me:36 DH: 34 TTC since 02/2012, not preventing since 2010. Me: testing came back good. DH: dx: MIF low count/motility. RE recommends IVF with ICSI. Update: DH just diagnosed with severe Crohn's disease, so any IF treatment is on hold :(

    Just found out that Jerk Hut does cater weddings. Waiting to hear back from the catering manager.
